Rockliffe Hall Golf Club
At 7,897 yards from the tips, Rockliffe Hall stands as Europe's longest golf course. The stunning 300 acre country estate on the banks of the River Tees sets the stage for the phenomenal layout, which was devised by Marc Westenborg, whose past projects include the Old Course in Vilamoura and Royal Birkdale.
With five distinct sets of tees, the golf course is set up to welcome golfers of all standards, and the hand cut greens promise to be some of the best in northern England. A comprehensive practice facility and golf academy, complete with 300 yard range, allows golfers to sharpen their skills, while the 14,000 sq. foot clubhouse that overlooks the final green is a luxury 19th hole with a relaxed atmosphere for the discerning golfer.
Each unique room at Rockliffe Hall overlooks scenic countryside. With free Wi-Fi access, guests also have state-of-the-art TV, audio and luxury Villeroy & Boch bathrooms.
There's also the option of the fabulous Woodland Mews Luxury Holiday Cottages which offer guests the chance to experience all the benefits of a luxury resort, from the privacy of their own 4-bedroomed luxury country home. Guests can choose to dine in one of the hotels 3 restaurants, make use of their spacious kitchen & dining facilities, or have one of Rockliffe Hall's top chefs come and prepare a 3 course meal for them in their property.
The luxury spa has a range of thermal bathing treatments and therapy rooms including the Rasul Mud room. There is a 20-metre pool, hydro pool and sound-wave therapy beds.
Whilst retaining its Gothic charm, the flagship Orangery restaurant has recently been re-developed with a new menu designed to bring theatre to your table. Guests can also experience a walk-in wine cellar, home to thousands of bins from around the world. The resort also features the welcoming Spa Brasserie – offering brunch and seasonal small plates - or the informal Clubhouse, with its popular Grill menu, boasting stunning views across the world-class golf course. The Old Hall lounges provide the perfect back drop for Afternoon Tea’s by day and exciting cocktails created by expert mixologists by night.

Rockcliffe Hall is a brilliant place to go for a special golf break, whether you are a golfer or not. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient and the rooms were spacious and of a very high standard. The leisure area is one of the best I have been to - you could spend hours there...and we did!
The golf course was quite challenging but a superb course to play for players of all skill levels and it will only get better as it matures. Word of advice would be to steer clear of the back tees which stretch the course to be the longest in Europe! There was also a covered range with free balls and a great practice area.
Thank for your help with the booking – one of the best golf breaks we have ever taken and for next to nothing!
