Rungsted Golf Club

Rungsted Golf Club is a historic gem nestled just north of Copenhagen, offering an enchanting golf experience set on the picturesque Danish Riviera. Established in 1937, this prestigious club has earned its reputation as one of Denmark's oldest and most important courses.

Designed by C.A. MacKenzie, brother of the legendary Alister MacKenzie (who designed Augusta National), the parkland layout winds through a scenic area rich with wildlife, mature trees, lakes, and streams. Rungsted provides a unique blend of challenging golf and natural beauty, making a round here feel as much like a walk in nature as an exciting game.

The 18-hole, tree-lined parkland course is routed over gently undulating terrain, offering a pleasant walk as you navigate its many features. The original design, dating back to 1937, requires careful thought and course management to score well.

The first nine holes feature a challenging setup with two par-3s and seven par-4s. The back nine, while perceived as somewhat easier due to the presence of par-5s, demands high accuracy off the tee on its shorter par-4 holes. The layout is beautifully framed by dense trees and strategically placed water hazards, with streams cutting across fairways short of the greens on a number of holes.

A particularly memorable moment is the 15th hole, which is considered the course's signature hole, with vibrant rhododendrons blooming in late spring. However, no score is truly safe until the end, as the final four holes are known, loved, and feared by many players.

For the discerning golfer seeking a blend of history, challenge, and convenience on a trip to the Copenhagen area, Rungsted Golf Club is an essential stop. Just 24 km north of the city in a scenic area on the Danish Riviera, the club offers a truly classic parkland test. The course provides a varied and exciting round with hidden challenges, and its rich history of hosting top professional players adds a layer of prestige that is hard to match in the region. Whether you're navigating the strategic first nine or tackling the famously demanding closing holes, Rungsted delivers a truly memorable and highly-rated Danish golf experience.
