Scarborough South Cliff

The course suffered damage during the First World War and Alister MacKenzie was commissioned to design and supervise the construction of a new course which is, with some alterations, the one that is played today.

The course is split into two distinct parts, the holes nearest the sea are perched on the cliffside overlooking the rugged coastline with views across to Scarborough Town and South Bay. Whereas the holes across the road nearest to the clubhouse provide a contrasting challenge for golfers. Stretching out to 6,400 yards from the back tees, there is a precedent on accuracy throughout.

The clubhouse facilities have been refurbished in recent years, the outdoor terrace overlooks the finishing hole, offering a perfect place to relax with a drink after your round.

The rain spoilt what would have been a very good day, friendly staff from pro shop to bar staff and catering, I’d definitely recommend playing this course.
