Staverton Park Hotel & Golf Course

Rooms were great if any complaint a bit warm. Staff were fantastic very polite and accommodating. One of our group left a phone in his room, they phoned his soon who he was sharing with and when couldn't get hold if him phoned me to make sure he knew the the hotel had it. Hotel pool, gym, etc. was fantastic as was the food.

The course was well presented for November albeit there weresome temporary teeing mats. The rooms was warm with comfortable beds. The hotel was very clean & tidy and we enjoyed our 1 night stay. The buggy speeds have been doctored to ensure safety, but they are very slow. All in all a nice little break, only 1 hour from our home address.

Hotel, bars and room are exactly what is wanted for a Golfbreak. Bar price and food quality again no quibble there. Staff every attentive, Katy on reception went the extra mile sorting out an issue. Rooms very clean and well laid out.

Overall a good experience although rooms are getting a little tired. Would have preferred more choice on the menu which was the same for each of the evenings

Good venue for the group. Easy to get to, restaurant was good and they looked after my son who has an allergy. Menus and breakfast very good. Minor issue on the Friday with gents toilets out of order

Food in restaurant was absolutely amazing, our room was what was just needed for our one night stay. Clean, fresh sheets, freshly stocked coffee and tea, hairdryer and two fans. Honestly didn't need anything else. Will be definitely staying again

The rooms were tired but clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee very welcome in room. Dinner was pretty good and breakfast excellent. Golf course is in good condition, interesting and not too difficult for an average player.

The hotel and bar were good, but very noisy as it was full. Couldn't really have a conversation. The food was ok but a very disappointing evening meal. We knew it would be a buffet, but there was very little choice and felt like a cafeteria. The staff were very good throughout

Hotel is a pretty standard 4* offering. Rooms are comfortable and clean but definitely not luxurious. Perfect for a short stay golf trip but you wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in the room. Public areas are very nice. The food was tasty but the menu choices were limited. All the staff were welcoming. There is a gym and pool but I didn't use them

The whole ambience of the place was a reflection of the dedication of the management team in moulding the staff into an efficient, friendly and competent group with but one aim; to create a pleasurable experience for their visitors.

Very pleasant hotel.

Overall a good stay, food plentiful and good quality, however chef needs to cook the bacon a bit longer! Room are fine if a little tired but sleep quality was good. Bar prices are high and as a captive audience you are stuck and is a shame they feel the need to gouge it out of you.

The hotel is functional but not amazing, during our stay there seemed to be a lot of trades and workmen staying which meant that the restaurant was more like a cookhouse than an “upmarket “ resort. The spa area is situated a walk away from the main building and is small to be fair but does its job. The rooms are ok but not outstanding and in need of an update, which is the same for the main hotel, it just feels tired and needs an uplift. As you move around the grounds there are sunrooms filled with broken furniture and whilst the staff do their best it’s clear that the place has seen better days. Overall I’d go back for the golf but not to stay.

Good size room with generous size comfy beds. No slamming doors during the night so we had a quiet night's sleep. Most of the reception staff were very friendly. Dinner was included in our package. We had the sea bass which was excellent. Good choice at breakfast although the food could have been hotter.

Overall the hotel was fine being easily accessible with pleasant rooms and courteous staff. However the way in which the hotel is run was disappointing. To briefly explain. 1) There appeared to be a shortage of products. No San Miguel in the main bar (run out), no crisps in the main bar (run out) no Pinot wine in the restaurant (run out) no marmalade at breakfast (run out). 2) The hotel has a substantial dining room which was used in its entirety for breakfast. However for dinner only half the room was laid up which meant diners were packed very closely together and with some larger parties the noise level was unacceptable. Sitting around a table for four it was almost impossible to hear the person seated opposite. 3) There appeared to be a shortage of waiting staff. In fairness the food was fine but the wait was longer than expected and getting a waiter's attention was sometimes a challenge. 4) The dinner menu on the Sunday evening was disappointing with the 'chips' being overly dominant. The menu choice on the Monday night was much better. Clearly it is a popular destination with a high footfall and the level of business is high. The hotel just needs to consider that if it is looking for repeat business the customer service elements need an uplift.

The staff are very pleasant, attentive but still professional. There is a very good atmosphere in the restaurant and bar.

Hotel accommodation clean and tidy, food of good standard and enough choice for dinner and breakfast. Bar area good and enough staff to cope with demand We had a midday tee time so arrived expecting to get hot food at the resort but the only thing available was warm sausage rolls at the golf club from the pro shop, no restaurant for food at the golf club. We had to find a shop down the road to get a sandwich, not ideal.

hotel was full to brimming and evening meal was a buffet free for all and poor quality food breakfast was cold food again buffet ? in the bar at night a dog barking in the bar when watching rugby world cup ? course is good only good thing really ?

Not the best experience, packed way too many people into the hotel, we had to eat at 6.30 in restaurant but had only just finished the golf (due to how busy it was). Then got told it was a buffet which really wasnt great so not happy with how much money we paid for the weekend. There was some kind of convention there and it was really loud

We were a party of six old school friends.. four of us golfers.. Staverton did exactly what we wanted.. a course setup for visitors, dealing with golfers all the time, food was surprisingly good, staff were all helpful be they proshop, restaurant or bar related. Hence we had a great time..

Everything was exactly we hoped for and the staff were friendly and professional.

Golf was great - ran very smoothly. Restaurant, absolute madness, purely due to the numbers. A bit like a cattle auction which was a shame as the food was good but when you eventually managed to get a seat you couldn't hold a conversation it was just so noisy.

The Hotel accommodation was comfortable and met our needs as visiting golfers. The only disappointment was that the Restaurant was closed on our first evening (despite the car park being full) and we had to eat in the Bar. Food offered was “Bar type- fish & chips/ Curries etc, and both Service and Food were fine, but we would have appreciated a better evening’s dining, for the Bar was very busy and bustling. Ironically, we couldn’t experience Breakfast, for our Tee time was 07.20 and Breakfast opened at 7pm.! We were, however, given a packed breakfast. The Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Couldn’t fault the Service received.

Everything was very good with the exception of Dinner on Saturday evening. Long wait at Buffet for food to be restocked and limited choice.

The hotel has potential but is very tired and understaffed. The rooms are not great, dirty carpets and bathrooms very dated. We booked DBB but the Dinner on the first night wasn’t great so we ate out on the second night. Golf course was good but again there was nobody taking control and play was so slow we walked in after 14 holes and 5 hours later. Overhaul very disappointing and wouldn’t rebook.

Enjoyed every minute I was there, staff friendly and Human, not talking from a script type of conversations. very clean comfy and excellent food.

Unfortunately the restaurant staff were not very efficient at all which made it very hard at dinner as we had to chase for wine glasses more than once although they had bought the wine! The hotel is just so so big... Reception staff were very helpful.. Rooms were ok but looking tired in places.

The rooms were clean and well appointed. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food excellent. Only gripe is the shower over the bath which is a bit difficult for older guests. The spa was well equipped and relaxing after a round of golf. The golf course was excellent. Interesting variety of holes and some spectacular views. Faiways and greens in lovely condition.

We all received a room individually, which was a bonus. Food was good and staff were friendly

One of the rooms wasn’t made up when we checked in after golf and the only alternative was a double room rather than a twin. No towels in a room and when given towels they were only hand towels. There was food at the golf club on Sunday but service was very slow and some ladies had to take their sandwiches onto the course even though they had ordered at 1200 and weren’t playing until 1330. There was no food available at the golf club on the Monday. The course was good. The buffet evening meal and breakfast were both good. Some of the rooms were located in noisy parts of the hotel - one next to the office which was used during the night. The value for money was very good.

Lovely room, great hotel with very helpful staff

Like all hotels staff levels are low resulting in longer waits for everything. The hotel is due a major refurb and in truth would benefit greatly. The rooms were a bit tired but adequate. Our meals were buffet style, the first night the restaurant was rammed,very noisy and the food quality was not the best. The next night the numbers decreased and was a much better experience and the food was superior.

Hotel staff were good ,condition of room was like something from the 80s ,bath was chipped and rusty stains on table and the chair in room was so threadbare it was unbelievable how they could still leave it in the room,food ok but options very limited ,would not stay there again

Provided everything you expected for this type of hotel. Buffet menu for dinner would be ok for anyone wanting quantity over quality. Lifts difficult to find on arrival with suit cases.

Was hardly in the hotel but the experiance was a very good one, clean and modern.

Our room was cold on arrival and also miles away from our friends room ! Room was not that clean , dust on heater and in wardrobe. Paper cup for tea / coffee in room , probably COVID excuse! Pool not located in main hotel but in golf complex which is a five minute walk . Hotel restaurant like a cafeteria. Buffet was looking very tired at 8pm sitting , mostly cold . Went earlier second night which was better . Breakfast was good . Plenty of cosy seat areas to sit in the hotel which is good in the present COVID climate . Drink prices are the usual hotel rate , £42 bottle of Malbec , £5 a pint of beer . Not the place for a session !

This is an average hotel. Rooms are typical for this category of hotel. The Spike Bar kitchen was closed, so no hot food after your round. You could go all day from breakfast to dinner and only get crisps! The main hotel bar was opened up early on Saturday to serve food mid afternoon after a few of us golfers complained. Reception staff really did not help in any way to resolve this problem. At least one Society drove down the road to the local supermarket to get sandwiches! I Wouk’s not recommend this venue. - there are several better venues in this region.

The hotel staff we’re superb! In the bars and restaurants! They went that extra mile to make sure our chaps (24) were taken care of .

Excellent accommodation, very very good golf course, bar area slightly small and only 1 TV with sky sports, but a few lounge areas around the hotel with more tvs, buffet dinner and selection of 3 different courses

The Hotel had great potential but rooms tired and in need of upgrade, main areas were fine. No food available during day, either at Hotel or Golf bars, not even a bag of crisps. Rooms were not serviced for the duration of our stay not even the bathrooms, reason given was COVID. Evening meal for first two evenings was poor, works canteen quality. Meal on final night was great, full choice menu and table service. Would not use the facility again unless there was some serious work done.

Great stay - loads of parking - the 20% off drinks really helped food was great a mix of buffet and counter service meant really quick service - staff so pleasant - everywhere spotless and modern

On arrival at the hotel you then find out that all of the leisure part is closed reason given pandemic, no cash taken, card only again pandemic, food very bland tasteless, not much choice, rooms look tired and dated in all we will not return to this venue, and not happy at all that a society of 17 and of 90% of which have brought cash to spend and not a card.And this is because we have not been told by either party hotel, or your golf travel that it would be card only, this I find not good working practices.

An excellent venue to hold a golf break. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The menu and quality of food in the restaurant were exceptional. Our group plan to return here in a couple of years. The only negative was the fact that the leisure club was closed- but that’s COVID for you!

We all had a very good time, the course was in excellent condition, shame that the pool and spar were closed. food was decent, overall very good.

Problem with bing told conflicting information about dinner time, resulting in a mad rush after golf.

Excellent weekend, the hotel was comfortable howeververy busy and the staff were rushed so service was slow. However, all the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was good, however they ran out of some choices on the Saturday night.

Overall very good food choice for mains could of been better

The hotel itself was pretty nice, bar area was nice in particular with a couple of zones allowing people a bit more room and a quieter zone for those trying to get away from the crowds. Our room was situated of the ground floor and looked out on to the chipping green and 1st tee was which awesome. The room itself was not bad althought the bathroom was a little dated, shower was great pressure but ran hot and cold likely due to being an over bath job attached to taps. Food package wasn’t really for me, reasonable choice on the inclusive buffet although I struggled a bit with the main on the 2nd night, would be a little more to order from the menu which did look nice for the meals I saw go out to others. Didn’t visit the leisure facilities in the end, they are situated at the golf club a short walk from the main building, felt a little disjointed. Always nicer when these are at least connected to the hotel

Considering the previous wet weather course was in great condition. Only downside played of temporary tees some off mats, some of grass. Greens were very fast. Course well manicured. First course all 20 people said lets go next year.

The course is a decent challenge, and I wiuld recommend a buggy as it is hilly. Decent greens albeit they'd been hollowtined recently, therefore slightly bobbly in places. Teeing mats were also in play on some holes.

The was very attractive and all playing surfaces were in good order and playable. Our party of 16 had an average score of 31,so ideal with a 125 rating. I'd recommend Staverton Park great value and quality.

Enkoyed both rounds. Course suffering as many with the recent dry and then very wet conditions but would be happy to play again. Greens a bit scruffy in areas and not as good as Collingtree Park

Clearly has had heavy traffic with greens slow and bumpy. Fairways a bit scruffy as are many clubs after the dry summer so we played preferred lies on Sunday. Layout was good for our mix of abilities, not too easy or too difficult

The greens were hit and miss with condition ...some poor some brilliant but the tee boxes from the yellows were pritty poor to be honest ...but we really enjoyed the course

I know most golf courses have not a good year, either too much rain or not enough which doesn't make the green keepers job easy but felt the tee area and approaches to and around the green could be far far better.greens slow but think the grass was longer to save burning the greens due hot weather.

Really enjoyed the course, it was very well maintained with beautiful trees and hills, so pretty. The Marshall was around making sure a good rate of play was happening, he was respectful and friendly. Great golf course.

The course is a very enjoyable layout with nice views. The fairways are generous and, considering the recent very dry weather, are in reasonable shape. The rough is not very rough, thankfully. Some of the tees are in urgent need of work. The greens were very firm and ran well but, visually, they don't look great with a lot of variations in colour. There are a lot of bunkers but many not easily visible and are way too large in some cases. There is a very variable depth of sand. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 rounds and had 2 decent scores. Good practice facilities

Tee boxes in very poor condition. Course generally needed TLC: it could easily be improved. Pro shop customer service was appalling: details upon request.

The course was in good order throughout though some of the tees were showing signs of distinct wear and tear. A good test for a range of golfers. Definitely recommend this course.

Sadly the course was very wet and hard to pull a trolley. No chance of using buggies. Fortunately the greens were firm and putted well. Good value for money.

Nice course with some excellent holes. Good that they keep the rough manageable it certainly keeps the pace of play up. Had a lot of rain recently but the Greens were good and quite fast for this time of year (Mid Oct) Round 2 was spoilt a tad by the constant rain on the day however we still enjoyed the round. Would certainly play and stay again

Superb golf course with amazing views, the course is tricky and demanding but not impossible to play. The course demands your attention and requires that you make use of your yardages. We all really enjoyed our 3 rounds and would happily go back to play the course again.

Nice course with numerous dog legs. Don’t think it’s a high handicappers course , but it is a good challenge. Pro shop has a fair amount of choice if you want go shopping. Could do with a couple more club & shoe cleaners. Driving range is adequate Overall challenging & would visit again

We played two days. On the Sunday, there were several groups of men playing Texas Scramble format which made them very slow. It was so slow that we had to come off after 15 holes. The following day, we played 18 holes in just over 4 hours (4 of us).

The course has a good lay-out and considering the number of players through the year was, apart from the greens, in good condition. The greens had recently being subject to some form of maintenance work and were 'very average' when compared both to my own course and also Hellidon Lakes. Speed of play was slow although we were a two ball where most groups were four balls. It was disappointing not to be able to book a buggy - there were none available. Although it made no difference to us at all the Professional's Shop was very disappointing in terms of goods stocked. With the footflow this should be a major income earner for the business. Like the main bar in the hotel there were some beers and snacks not available in the Golf Club Bar. Stuff that should be routine in a well managed business.

Tricky course some blind holes very nice to play

Came here as a group of 6 with mixed ability golfers for the 4th year running. Course is a fantastic parkland course with great variety in holes (all interesting) and some good water hazards. Greens not fast but in great condition. Only downside is the rounds were slow. We played Mon/Tue and the rounds took 5 hours 20 mins, there seemed to be lots of 60+ aged players some of which were having playing lessons as a 4 ball. The Wednesday round was better at 4 hours 30 mins.

Sundays round of golf took about 4 & a half hours. Mondays round took nearly 6 hours due to the number of people/ societies playing! Very slow both days !

Very nice course

Great course considering the rain so far this year. Some difficult holes but most allowed forgiveness for the slice.

The course was in good condition given the recent winter / exceptional rain. The staff are accommodating and professional. We were lucky to have good weather and could appreciate the spectacular views over the course.

Given the weather we have had the course was in very good condition, the groundstaff have done a remarkable job to present it in the state it was.

Course has obviously suffered with the weather and very boggy underfoot but playable. A reasonable test and probably a good summer course but avoid in the winter, too wet and as it was so wet fairways and rough far too long as they must have been unable to use the mowers as too boggy. Group lost quite a few balls from good shots but balls were plugging on the fairways and difficult to find. Golf club has no hot food or restaurant only a few warm sausage rolls. Not ideal for a party of 16 hungry golfers expecting to get lunch prior to play at midday. had to find local shop for sandwiches

The recent storms have really hit the course very wet under foot. Course in dryer times I believe would be excellent

very wet underfoot with the storms prior to going no buggies so hard course to walk for old lads. hilly course for walking behind 4 balls with nowhere to go very slow round 5 hours

Rang the course 3 times the day before to book a buggy, no answer, noone rang back after I left a message. Then got told no buggies but as a resort course it looked like they only had around 10ish buggies

We were behind a large group on day 1…and took 4hrs 40… which in 30degC wasn’t good Day 2 we had nobody in front and did 3hrs 55…much better

The course was in good condition and challenging enough for an average golfer.

A good couple of rounds, fairways very generous, so much so I didn't lose a ball !!!!

Greens a little slow

played three rounds, first two rounds very slow due to same group of four in front playing a scramble style game but course in good condition and very interesting, would recommend and we will be playing the course again in the future

It's a good course well maintained. Starter and marshall were very helpful.

Our golfing experience was very good. Pre and Post golf, we were well looked after by the Pro, and Michelle in the clubhouse. The Course was very well presented and a good test of golf. The Greens were slower than our Home Courses, but true. Enjoyed our two days. Thank you to all at Your Golf Travel.

Badly managed for the number of golfers out on the course. It was the slowest game of golf we have ever played and after 5 hrs we walked in on the 14th hole. Ridiculous

Great course to play, and will be returning.

Golf course apart from the greens was good. Greens were not good. First day the round was 4.5 hours as got caught behind mens 4 balls but and on the second 3.5 Club house was a disappointment as we felt we were intruding as space was limited. Also there were many items on the lunch menu which they had not got. Members we met were very friendly though.

The golf course was excellent. Interesting variety of holes and some spectacular views. Fairways and greens in lovely condition. Full range of practice facilities and pro shop staff pleasant and helpful. The clubhouse staff also very accommodating.

This is a very physically demanding course, especially for gentleman of a certain age. we played all three days in a very strong wind and was very grateful that I was in a buggy. The condition of the course was good with slowish greens and a zillion bunkers. All in all a very fair test. The young men in the pro shop were very helpful and represented the club superbly. The golf club bar and coffee area was like a ghost town probably due to a very unhelpful member of staff complaining he could not cope.

Did play particularly well, but great course

Won’t go to a resort course again. Played in a two ball behind golfers who looked as if they had never hit a ball before. After three hours we had completed nine holes on the Sunday so walked off. Better on the Monday as we went out ahead of the societies. Nice course very slow greens.

Course was in great condition. Was very slow on the Friday afternoon but over the weekend they have marshals on the course so much better.

The course in general was in very good condition but unfortunately the greens had been hollow tined prior to our arrival so they were not as good as they could have been. We all fuly understand that course maintenance has to be done and need this did not detract from our enjoyment. Playing the course was made extremely testing over the weekend due to the high winds that seemed to blow for the entire weekend. We all had a great time and would certainly revisit again in the future.

Some good holes, course needs some attention, and markers to next tee would help. Overall good.

Bunkers appalling!

It was a very windy day which made it cold, but because of the height of the course I expect that is a regular occurrence. No buggies available and a very steep course down and back up so not suitable for anyone with difficulty in walking. Very cheap membership so lots of people playing the course. Greens very slow.

The course was very nice and considering the weather we have had it was even better than I thought it was going to be. There was a few things I would recommend to the course (although I aint no pro haha) a couple of the Tee beds were quite high and steep and didn't have steps sounds small but certainly the 4th was one area this would have helped had it been wetter could have slipped etc) Also at the tee bed there are stone inserts on the floor but not very visible would defo benefit from a more strategically based signage however excellent experiance and would defo play there again

Enjoyed the golf course , very interesting track . Problem with finding balls in the leaves , best not to go in Autumn although the trees looked very pretty! Quite up and down so not for the faint hearted . Good driving range which you look over from the golf club patio .18th hole does not finish at the club . Pro shop were very friendly and helpful , as was the young lady behind the golf club bar . Nice cosy feel to the club house .

The course coped well with the heavy rain. Greens were ok, some were bumpy and they are of variable speed. Some tees are in poor nick. The hilly nature of the course made it challenging. The walk between the 9th green and 10th tee must be one of the longest in the country.

The course overall was very challenging, Some great holes !! The only problem was the greens which had work done on them before we arrived! Hollow tinning etc, but work which probably is necessary!! But YGT should have informed our party .

Course kept very well Sunday we had 25deg sunny blue sky, overnight alot of rain into the morning but course and greens still maintained a good speed

No issues with the golf although a little slow.

Nice design course, well design but needs some TLC. Surprised the Club house bar was closed with so many on the course

Very popular course back to back all day so 5.5 hours to get around buggies very scarce however what a lovely course happily come back again

A good testing course, in nice condition considering the traffic it gets. Greens were quite spongy and tough to score on. Overall a good experience

Think we are spoilt with our greens at home club - thought that these were slow due to grass length. Otherwise OK

6 hours to play is not great in the heat. No evidence of marshals encouraging playing speed to increase or let group behind play through. YGT had NOT reserved buggies as per my booking receipt.

Glad we had buggies there is a lot of walking between holes but generally v good.

The course its self was OK needs a little work in places but course doesn't greens some fast then some slow just not constant fairways needs a little dressing in places the rough is the rough, maybe a little better signage would be better in some places.

We played 4 rounds on this course and the scores remained more or less the same throughout. There are quite a lot of bunkers (which are not all in great condition/ depth of sand and weeds) this proved challenging for the less experienced members.

overall very good course was very busy, course was in very good condition and the buggies were good.

Excellent and interesting course.The reason for 4stars instead of 5 is in connection with bunkers which need more sand and also attention to trimming the grass to make a clean defined edge around the bunker.No problems getting around the course as it was well signed and on each tee ground the hole plan was very useful.Thankyou Staverton.See you soon.

Good course for a society visit rough fair but challenging greens quickie but again fair and in great condition

An interesting and tricky course well maintained with nice views. A slight problem in the pro s shop as they were not aware of the discount off the buggy price (ie one for free first day) however this was resolved. The buggies were excellent, clean and quiet.

We were lucky as the two of us had no-one in front of us or behind us until the 14th hole .... when we had to wait a bit on each hole. However, we had been advised that the course was busy, and we normally play quite quickly, so this was fine. Enjoyable course, well kept and look forward to playing it again.

Actual golf was good but when we got there was informed that tee time was now 1.37pm from 1pm and it was near to 2pm when we were allowed to tee off which messed up all our plans. Also the Monday tee time was changed.Also was promised N/P and L/D markers would be put out for us both days, this did not happen on either day. Please arrange for compensation. Regards Paul Cave

We played in the windiest of conditions making it a real test to stick to the fairways but this didn’t detract from the challenge of the course. Good variety of holes, very undulating and a challenge to walk for some I would imagine however made for some great views. Course was in great condition, just a single winter tee to play from. Must be said this was for a right hander only, not for us lefty’s as not possible to get s tee in! 1st day was a decent pace but the Sunday was awfully slow, either mix ups in tee booking or probably that and some slow players. We arrived at the same time as 2 4 balls all having the same tee time! Regardless of the few ngegatives I’d play it again for sure, maybe aiming for mid week and or a later tee time
