The enchanting courses encircle the club’s monumental stately clubhouse, and have fully stood the test of time more than a century since their inauguration. Shapland Colt is best known for his incredible construction of putting surfaces; in fact, the greens are without doubt the highlight of Stoke Park, showcasing perfectly the designer’s ability for subtlety and purity.
Followers of Colt’s creations, of which there will be many, will know that the 7th hole is widely regarded to be the single finest that he produced, and is believed to be the inspiration for Augusta National’s spine-tingling short 16th.
