This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design stands at a whopping 7,430 yards and is quite understandably nicknamed ‘Arizona’s Monster’. The long par 72 is cleverly set amongst the natural terrain as it winds around trees, lakes and streams. Amongst an impressive array of golf holes stands the 645 yard 4th hole. This huge par 5 will certainly stick in your mind long after finishing the round.
Another Robert Trent Jones design, the shorter Blue Course still provides a tough test demanding a real need for course management and ball position. The much photographed 15th is perhaps the signature hole of this golf course. The 140-yard par 3 presents a tough approach to an island green, a tricky hole which is visually stunning.
The Red golf course features open fairways and generous greens for a more casual round of golf, although the closing holes can be quite tricky for some. A standout feature is how scenic the course is. The fairway rolls alongside rippling streams and through pine forests to create a truly enjoyable experience of Southwestern golf.
Guests can enjoy one of the 331 guest casitas and suites where modern contemporary style meets Old Western influences. Each casita guest room features wood furnishings, imported Italian linen bedding, a spacious bathroom and individual patios to offer guests a place where complete relaxation and privacy can be found. Of course the hotel offers all the modern amenities expected of a top class resort such as this, however Wigwam goes above and beyond this as a real attention to detail can be found here with additional services such as same day laundry and dry cleaning, daily newspaper and state-of-the-art golf club rental. Guests have the option of rooms and suites from three different collections, The Adobe, The Oasis and The Fairway. Each offering their own style and facilities, the collections have been designed to suit the interests of each guest at the hotel. For golfers, the Adobe Fairway collection is recommended with views overlooking the Patriot Course and just a short walk to the pro shop and first tees.
The Wigwam has plenty of dining options for guests to take advantage of, all offering delicious dishes made from local produce. Litchfield’s, the resort’s signature restaurant, features an impressive menu of dishes made from locally sourced produce and created by the Chef de Cuisine at the cooking fireplace. For a more relaxed vibe, head to Red’s Bar & Grill for tasty snacks of sandwiches, incredible burgers and mouthwatering mains at lunch or dinner.
Wigwam boasts four different pool areas that cater for all guests. While some may see the pool as a place to simply relax and soak up some sun, others see it as an opportunity to engage in sports and activities and the Wigwam successfully caters for all guests. From the Lodge’s children pool with a 25-foot tower with twisting water slides, to the romantic Oasis pool, guests can find the perfect pool environment to suit their holiday needs. The Wigwam also offers a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a number of various treatments at the Red Door Spa and wellness centre, ideal for guests to relax, rejuvenate and re-energise.
