Weston-super-Mare Golf Club is a links test on Weston Bay, with cracking views across the Bristol Channel towards the Welsh coast and Cardiff on a clear day. It's a course that rewards good judgement as much as good ball-striking, and it's very well conditioned for a seaside layout.
Out here, the wind is part of the scorecard. One day you'll be hitting a controlled iron off the tee, the next you'll need to flight the ball low and use the ground to chase it in. If you enjoy thinking your way round, picking smart targets and relying on touch around the greens, you'll feel right at home.
It's also a smart option for a quick UK golf break. From Bristol, Somerset and South Wales, you can be on the first tee without turning the trip into a long travel day. If you're building a South West itinerary, it pairs nicely with other coastal courses and makes a standout round in the region.
Want it organised? We'll sort your tee times and accommodation in one go, with your trip protected and our team on hand if you need us, so you can just show up and play. Speak to one of our Golf Travel Experts and we'll build a break around your dates, group size and budget.

Weston-super-Mare Golf Club offers a brilliant test of links golf, requiring accurate shots in order to score well. The course is an easy walk, with generous fairways and, as with most true links, the wind often plays a decisive role in making a good score. Thanks to its excellent drainage, the course, situated on the coast at the southern end of the town, is rarely closed due to rain - temporary greens are seldom used unless there's an early morning frost, and trolley bans are a rarity. As a result, the greens are fast and true; the fairways tight and the rough punishing.
The signature hole is the 15th - a 458-yard par-4 - which is said to be modelled on St Andrews Old Course's 17th ‘Road Hole'. It has a blind tee shot and out of bounds down the right, and the green set at an angle to the treacherous bunker at the front corner. It's always satisfying to get a par here! The 15th is also the start of the tough finish as it's followed by the par-3 16th into the prevailing wind, the the dog leg par-5 17th and the tricky par-4 18th with out-of-bounds on the right and back of the green and heavy bunkers to the left, meaning that you are often laying up short in two then hoping for a chip and a putt for your par. Wonderful stuff!
The Clubhouse was officially opened in April 1905 but the main bar and dining areas underwent extensive refurbishment in 2007, which has further enhanced the facilities, providing a choice of either the more relaxed spike bar of the Royal Sands Bar, or the Links Lounge, which adjoins the MacKenzie Dining Room.

A very windy day made the course paly tough but 2 of our group of 16 still managed a score just under their handicaps, rough was long and made it tough for the higher handicappers, only the hole, we liked this course and had an excellent day

An enjoyable course on the edge of Weston-Super-Mare. Very flat so easy walking. A fairly short course but plenty of variety in hole design. A good choice for all levels of player. Only downside is parking could be a bit of an issue at busy times.
