This venue was recommended to us by Barry at your golf travel and I'm pleased it was. A fantastic venue with excellent staff and facilities. Even though this is a big venue, there is more than enough staff to make sure you served quickly. Excellent value for money and extremely comfortable bedrooms. Great facilities at the hotel too. 10/10.

Having read lots of negative reviews about the hotel I was keen go with an open mind and not let other opinions sway my experience. The hotel looks impressive and is exciting to enter, we were buzzing for our weekend! Unfortunately, immediately upon checking in they had no recollection of my booking! My heart sank. I had previously booked to stay in the Paddocks and after reading that most of the bad reviews come from people who have stayed there I decided to pay and upgrade to the main hotel. The receptionist told me they had no rooms available in the main hotel apart from shared Double bed rooms (I was travelling with my Father for his Father's Day present!) and they said they would offer me a refund of the upgrade. After a bit of a tussle back and forth with the receptionist (who all he seemed to say was "we have no rooms"), I said it was completely unacceptable and I was asked to sit and wait for "Dan". After about a 10 minute wait the receptionist called me over who said they have a double bed in a room which was made of two singles. I accepted the offer but was offered no compensation for the situation and left feeling completely underwhelmed. We ended up with a smaller room due to it being a double room and it also took a while for the mattresses to come. The house staff said "oh that's going to be a problem" when seeing they needed x 2 single beds and Dad and I ended up separating the beds and moving the double mattresses and bedding outside ourselves. The whole checkin procedure was disheartening and time wasting. The customer service was poor. Not everyone wants a refund offered immediately as that does not solve the current situation. The hotel should have sought extra compensation here I feel as that is NOT what you want on your first minute of people in the hotel. Throughout my stay, I saw multiple people in distress and one lady basically in tears at the spa making a complaint. SO - seems like the rumours are true. Sorry chaps! Additionally I will note, the hotel is clean, the bar staff and restaurant were all great. Food is also good and spa was a nice addition, although be prepared, twice I asked for a robe and there wasn't one and once they even didn't have a towel. Both are to be provided as part of your stay! In final, the check in procedure cast a shadow over the whole hotel and the weekend for me. We were always waiting for the next problem. Fortunately, the golf was superb and everyone in the Atrium and Golf house was fantastic!

Thank you for arranging our stay. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, food good and the private dining room for the evening worked a treat for a group, the course was a good challenge. It was all topped off with good weather. Our group of 36 were all very happy! I'd happily return in the future :-)

Fantastic place to stay in groups. Really well set up for groups and couldn’t do enough for us. Hotel rooms are good quality however we stayed in record high temperatures and there was no air conditioning at all in the hotel. The staff in the golf club house were terrible but the food and drinks were fine. The restaurant is vast and impersonal. Dinner food was great but breakfast was just ok.

The Paddocks was too far away from the main hotel and was more like a stable block. It took 4 attempts to get into the rooms as the swipe cards wouldn’t work meaning we had to walk back to the main hotel each time. Wouldn’t stay in the Paddocks again ! The leisure facilities were excellent but too far away ! It would be cheaper to book through the resort directly !

We stayed at the paddocks which are about 500 yards from the main hotel and facilities . The rooms were tiny with a really small tv . We stayed at a Travelodge the previous night in far more superior rooms. The paddocks has a sports bar and grill , both of which were closed . The hotel staff were the most miserable people I have seen in a while . Not a smile or a good morning , and the staff on reception were quite disdainful when our non-playing partners were enquiring about spa treatments . I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Pretty much everything was excellent. The facilities are very good and the staff were first class. The only minor hiccup was with the Breakfast. If you are going to serve a Buffet Breakfast, with guests helping themselves from 'hot' trays, then the Plates must be hot as well. Food goes cold very quickly on cold plates. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

Some very enjoyable holes
A testing course with plenty of water featuring on the majority of holes. Course was presented in excellent condition, and the greens were fast with a true roll. Holes were clearly signposted and plenty of ball washers and bins scattered around the course. The bunkers had plenty of 'fluffy' white sand in and were all raked. A map of each hole was located at each tee which provided great assistance with course management. The fairways were freshly mowed with little evidence of divots not being replaced. My only critism would be that some of the deep rough was marked as a ‘water hazard’ therefore you were forced to take a penalty drop when in some cases you may have been able to play the shot. The par 3s were difficult as the greens were relatively small with danger usually on both sides from bunkers and water. In particular, the 188 yard par 3 on the Grand Prix course requiring a long carry over water and bunkers to the front and right of the hole. I scored 32 stableford points.

3 really nice courses , in well kept condition . Greens were good and tricky . Caddy Master was excellent , really friendly and helpful . Only down side was that the pro shop was not opened due to lack of staff . We were told that as of the 1st april they employ an extra member of staff so they can open the golf shop . Quite bizarre , I have never played anywhere that sees itself as a golf resort and not even open the golf shop . I think that really sums up whittlebury park . There are better venues than this one. I recommend that if you want to play these courses , stay in a Travelodge and don't expect to buy anything in the pro shop.
