Staff polite and very helpful.Rooms clean and adequate.Menu limited, food ok.The whole hotel quiet for a weekend hardly saw a sole.

A very average hotel although all the staff were friendly and helpful where they could be. Rooms do not have aircon, which is a big issue these days at this time of year especially. Food was pretty good.

Food good. Room clean. Bathroom aged. Shower came of wall. Mattresses old and uncomfortable. Golf course in need of attention. Tee boxes uncut along with fairways. Some staff good some very poor attitude. Customer service lacking.

Room was very clean, all areas of hotel very clean, food was excellent. Bar area a bit bland and renovation work going on in prison so couldn’t go in.

The hotel seemed a little tired. We got the impression that it had maybe just changed hands. There seemed to be a shortage of staff but a multitude of 'management', who seemed to be checking everything everywhere but helping very little. The rooms were comfortable enough, clean and quite spacious. The shower worked well. Despite the disappointment of my first taste in the restaurant (very obviously packeted 'soup of the day'), the rest of the food was delicious and well-presented. The breakfast was again varied and tasty, although it always seemed like the staff were never ready for the guests in the morning. The Spa was well-equipped but.........when you have a nice pool whose heating isn't working and a non-functioning jacuzzi, it's a case of what might have been. The young, 'hands-on' staff we chatted to were very friendly and helpful despite what seemed like them being constantly watched by a myriad of managers/owners! Still an enjoyable stay. With an excellent golf course as part of this complex, the new? owners have a real opportunity to invest in freshening up the hotel itself and making it a first class resort. Come on guys.......don't miss the chance!!

Staff are brilliant can’t fault food stunning. Only fault is that it’s a cashless hotel not the best and bar shuts way to early

Good room,comfortable beds and very accommodating staff. Food,though limited menu, was very good.

Overall great value, fantastic staff, fantastic venue and course The only criticism we had was some silly prices on our bar tab 80 pence for a dash of lemonade why The staff the food the rooms were exceptional value and we will return

The design of the course in my opinion is great .We enjoyed the layout with 17/18 being a bit of a card wrecker as we had not played before.The Greens are ruined! it was a bit of shock to see them.Even with the weather we are experiencing.If we had just paid a green fee I would have walked off the course and asked for my money back.As it was we were on a deal and travelling on to Bath the next day .So we stuck to it and enjoyed the course.we did ask about the state of it the Gent on the desk said they were working on them.Didnt see a green staff all two day's.I can't recommend playing there that state it is in.

The Lakes course was in an unacceptable condition. It had not been curated or cared about for a very long time. “Greens” were mostly brown and impossible to putt consistently or accurately on. There was more than a couple that were unfair because of the roll caused by totally parched greens. All the bunkers were unplayable - no sand, or sand which had not been raked for a very long time. Our group played them all as GUR. Fairways were dry (understandable) but caused many bad bounces and unstoppable roll into rough because of lack of previous care and attention prior to the dry spell. The rough was overly punishable - far too thick, long and dense. This is not necessary for average mid to high handicap golfers. I will not play this course again as I do not believe it is fair to my bracket of golfer (handicap 8 - 18). It’s a shame as it could be (with a lot of TLC) a lovely course. It was designed by Peter Aliss, I understand. If the great man were alive now he would be unbelievably embarrassed to have his name associated with the course, in my view.

Greens were well kept and quick. Fairways ok but not great but this was expected as it is a typical pay and play course. Bunkers awful, very very poor. Signage on each tee badly faded and peeling paint, halfway house not open. Pro shop out of use while being renovated.

Unlike the hotel, the course was in lovely condition! Lush, well-cut fairways; some well-placed bunkers and water hazards and some tricky, undulating and fast greens, which were in great condition and consistent. We played 3 rounds as part of a golf break and all agreed that it was the sort of course that we could really enjoy being members of.

A great course that’s been let go during lockdown green keepers back now so should quickly improve,nowhere near enough buggies had to walk on the Sunday which was a struggle but still enjoyed the rounds

Club house would not give us our booked buggies until we provided written proof and the pro shop was closed. ON A SUNDAY?????

Only the Lakes course was open, but really enjoyed it. Some great holes and sloping greens. A fair but challenging course.

We had four great rounds of golf with no problems
