Conwy Golf Club

The Caernarvonshire coastline is often buffeted by stiff winds, which makes Conwy a serious test at times. The history of the golf course is tumultuous; the original layout was conceived in 1869, but the two World Wars had a profound effect on the transformation of the links. Almost lost in the 1940s, Conwy as it is known now is the result of golf architect Frank Pennink's vision.

Rugged and unflashy, Conwy is a seaside gem, and is a classic option for a golf tour in North Wales.

Conwy is one of my all time favourite courses! Aesthetics of a course seems to be a common theme & Conwy has that in spades. Conwy Mountain serves as a dramatic backdrop on one side of the course & the waters surrounding the Morfa Peninsula on the other; you’ll have to go an awfully long way to find a course more breathtaking than Conwy! The course is pure, old-school links too, with all the things that make that type of golf so much fun. Wispy but fair rough, pot bunkers, firm fast fairways & upturned saucer greens… it really is to die for and when you consider the quality of other courses in the region, you’ll quickly realise that North Wales is a vastly underrated destination for golf!

This was the first time we had played a full links course and we were very impressed by it, especially the greens. The staff were very welcoming and facilities, food etc, were all top class.

Good golf course presenting a very different challenge to the parkland courses I usually play on. the only negative was the lack of signage to the next tee.

Really enjoyed the challenge of Conway as the wind was blowing hard. As it is a members course slow play was not an issue. Pro, bar, members and staff made us very welcome.
