Conwy Golf Club delivers one of North Wales's most striking links experiences, set where the River Conwy meets the Irish Sea. The course unfolds against a backdrop of Conwy Mountain and the sweeping Conwy Estuary, a setting that looks spectacular, then gets in your head once the wind starts asking awkward questions. It's no tourist knockabout either, it was Welsh Golf Club of the Year in 2007 and has hosted the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open.
The layout plays along the coastline, offering the classic links challenge of firm, fast-running fairways, strategic bunkering and the ever-present coastal wind. Routing takes full advantage of the estuary views and natural contours, with holes that demand accuracy off the tee and smart course management around the greens. I'll put it this way, when it's breezy (and it often is), you'll earn every good decision, especially on approach shots and around the greens.

Who is it best for?
Confident mid-handicappers and better who like plotting their way round. Higher handicaps will still enjoy it, but expect a sterner day when the breeze is up and the fairways are running.

The Caernarfonshire coastline is often buffeted by stiff winds, which makes Conwy a serious test at times. The history of the golf course is tumultuous; the original layout was conceived in 1869, but the two World Wars had a profound effect on the transformation of the links. Almost lost in the 1940s, Conwy as it is known now is the result of golf architect Frank Pennink's vision.
The course provides sweeping views of the Great Orme, Conwy Bay and the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance. Due to its sandy links turf it drains exceptionally well, making it playable and in excellent condition throughout all four seasons. The club features a modern clubhouse with panoramic views over the estuary, along with extensive practice areas and a driving range.
Rugged and unflashy, Conwy is a seaside gem, and is a classic option for a golf tour in North Wales.

The course was a bit burnt out in places due to the extreme heat a few weeks previous. The greens were not fast but we did have some rain which made for a harder round.

Greens and fairways a little 'tired' in places, but I say that having just come off the course at Aberdovey which has set an exceptionally high bar.

Great course in wind and rain. The conditions were brutal but was still a joy to play. Staff were brilliant and the members in the clubhouse were very friendly and thought we were mad going out in that! Breakfast was also great.

Played here for first time and although with course guide book and taking the view in where you going! It can be difficult if you don’t get it on the right places but nevertheless enjoyed it to go back again in near future!
