3 Nights, 2 Rounds
- 3 Nights Bed and Breakfast at Hotel Olympic Crans-Montana
- 2 Rounds at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre
3 Nights, 2 Rounds
Built in 1906, Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club has long been a Swiss favourite and it's easy to see why. Set on a plateau 1,500 metres above sea level, you get alpine golf with clear views towards Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn that make every photo look like a postcard.
It's also a genuine tournament venue. The Omega European Masters returns here year after year on the DP World Tour calendar, which tells you everything about the layout's pedigree. In 1995, the late great Seve Ballesteros refreshed the design and it's been a sharper, more demanding test ever since.
The altitude is a big part of the fun. The ball does travel, but it's not as simple as taking one less club. With the mountain air, changes in temperature and the way the holes sit on the plateau, you'll want to commit to your numbers and trust your strike. Fairways sweep through open meadows with forests and peaks framing the line, while the greens put a premium on the right side and the right shape into the flag.
If you want a bucket-list round that combines Tour-level golf with scenery you'll talk about for years, Crans-sur-Sierre absolutely belongs on your shortlist.

Founded in 1905, the site suffered considerable damage during both World Wars, but the 1948 design was sharpened up by Seve Ballesteros in 1995, and the course remains immensely popular. Playing at altitude is always interesting - the ball travels up to 15% further in the thin air - and the Ballesteros course is as picturesque as they come.
In addition to spectacular views, the layout of the golf course is equally excellent with each hole set up to test every facet of your game from big booming drives to touch on the greens. The pristine fairways glide over the naturally undulating terrain creating drastic run-off areas meaning an emphasis is placed on accuracy both off the tee and in approach play. However, despite the fact the course is designed to provide a stern test for the best players among us, the course has been designed in such a way that when played from different tee boxes it is still accessible for the more social player.

Jack Nicklaus has created a course that serves up magnificent views over the Valais Alps making it one of the most beautiful 9 hole layouts in Switzerland.
Although relatively short, it requires accuracy with its narrow winding fairways and strategically placed obstacles.

Great experience to tick off the bucket list. 1500 metres up and playing above the clouds one day. Not the best course ever played but the views and location are something we will remember for many years.
