Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club

A two night stay with 2 rounds, one on each of the two courses. We are regulars at this hotel which we find to be extremely comfortable, very clean and presentable with exceptionally friendly and efficient staff. The food in the Pentland was of a good standard with a varied menu suitable for all tastes. We'll be back again next year

The accommodations looks beautiful from the exterior. Inside, the rooms are quite dated and basic. However, the food in the restaurant is very good. Breakfast could improve with better replenishment at busy times.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. Both restaurants were very good. We had a lovely couple of days here

We had two double rooms - 167 and 174 which were quite accessible from the various areas of the hotel (as some of the rooms are quite a distance away). The rooms were clean but the beds were very soft causing us to meet in the middle. Also the wardrobe space was exceptionally narrow not even allowing for a pair of shoes to be put in other than lengthways. The Pentland restaurant was excellent both in terms of food quality and service. Special mention to Lucy who looked after us both evenings.The Braid bar was a bit untidy when we were there - crumbs on the floor around our table and the table needing to be cleaned but the service was good and veery friendly.

Fab hotel, staff could not be more helpful. Great service, excellent food.

Course was lovely and course staff were excellent and very welcoming.The course was on winter tees but that was what we were expecting,we enjoyed playing the East course and will return to play again.

The hotel was great but unfortunately the food service was very slow. We had to remind the staff about our desserts after we had waited 45mins and the restaurant wasn't busy. A massive queue greeted us for breakfast, and although it went down fairly quickly we were amazed to see so many empty tables once we got into the restaurant. The food was lovely though.

Very nice hotel with two major points that could be improved: 1. The noise when another room door is closed is quite loud 2. The organisation at the restaurant i.e. at breakfast is horrible. he services tries it’s best but there seems to be no system (who is doing what) wat ends in chaos

Great experience from check in through to departure, all staff showed great customer service.

Loved everything about the hotel with the exception of the evening meal. You need to book ahead to get into the onto site restaurant or brasserie meaning your only options are the golf lounge or cocktail bar which have reduced menus. They also struggle to cope with large volumes of people and were told in the golf lounge bar they were no longer serving people to handle the customer volume in the restaurant, brasserie and the wedding which was happening on site. Finally, we were served in the cocktail bar and the food was very overpriced and disappointing for what it was.

Great hotel however overpriced for drinks and snacks, set menu very average.

Mixed. A lot of staff were very young, didn’t know what they were doing, didn’t smile not even when talking to us. When we asked for more jam during our cream tea we were brought two little jars of HP sauce!!! Breakfast in our room was very poor. Soggy toast, tiny croissants and never seen Rice Krispies like them looked like White polystyrene ovals - didn’t eat them! Given hardly any butter and orange juice was a cheap variety. Dinner in the brasserie was fine. Food average and had a lovely smiley, friendly waiter. Im afraid we won’t be going back or recommending to others.

Hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable . Nice beds and warm room. Can't complain about the hotel at all. We had our meal in the brasserie which was included in the price .the starters were all served together however the main meals were served separately and people wee finished their main meals while others had to wait an extra 15 minutes afterwards.took nearly an hour and a half to get served and I had a couple of the people complaining. Breakfast was self service and very nice

We had the best time. Room was spacious and decorated really well. Staff super. Food excellent. Will visit adwain. Definitely recommend this golf hotel. X

Wasn’t impressed to be honest short staffed no bathrooms near any bars sports bar closed early leaving us sat in a quiet room with no atmosphere

Hotel accommodation was excellent very comfy room adequate storage excellent bathroom with all small appliances ( iron/Hairdryer ) in the room also plenty of points for charging phones etc

My friends and love a golf weekend here but noticing that prices for food and drink are getting more and more expensive. At dinner there is now a charge for things like chips,potatoes and veg etc.,As for alcohol for for 4 double spirits with a dash of soft drink was costing £50 per round. The breakfast is still excellent. The staff as always are very nice and helpful.

I had a very enjoyable stay for three nights. This is a comfortable spacious resort with lovely grounds and two entertainment golf course

The hotel restaurant was expensive and over priced for a trip of this nature. We booked for Dinner, bed and breakfast but had to pay for all side dishes as no vegetables, potatoes, chips or anything came with the main meal! A meal in the Golf bar or adjacent restaurant would have been better value. The drinks in the hotel restaurant we’re also significantly more expensive than in the golf bar Rooms ok but bathrooms in need of a refresh

Both Dalmahoy west and east course were in good condition overall, with a bit of wear and tear on a few greens and close proximity to the greens, to be expected given the amount of play year round, the west is the shorter course, and more fun, with the east being a lot longer and tricky if your not a big hitter. Breakfast in my opinion was at best an average buffet style affair, with the evening meal being cooked to order and was much better quality, room comfort was fine, but looking a little tired, general facilities in the hotel complex and spa were of a good standard, staff were friendly, polite and professional, worth a visit for the golf, just don’t play the west course then the east course x 2 unless your golf fit, it’s a tough slog.

Problems checking in even though I sent a room list. Very expensive bar prices. Staff not organised. Drinks charged to wrong rooms.

Typical golf hotel. Over booked and under staffed with many staff under training or inexperienced. One bar open to cater for all golfing guests plus a wedding and hen party. Over priced for service recieved.

Clean modern room. Very helpful staff - at all levels. Excellent choice of food and bar facilities, including a private dining room. Really enjoyed our stay (15 golfers).

The hotel has good facilities like the leisure centre. The food was very good and the drinks not too expensive like you often find in similar venue.

All very good apart for waiting for 45 minutes for sandwiches after golf and one hour for our evening meal to be served. However the staff were excellent and we were compensated for the long waits. Hopefully this was just a blip.

Lovely Hotel very relaxing and food was brilliant. Only reason I gave facilities a 3 star is that pool was very busy with club members swimming lessons and had no space until 8pm. Overall great VFM.

Hotel was excellent couldn't fault anything from our visit, the staff were 1st class nothing was any trouble for them to do for us during our stay!

First visit and could not have been more pleased with standard of everything from accommodation to food, staff, facilities etc.

The rooms were excellent with good beds, unlike some other hotels the beds were well spaced apart which is good when sharing with another golfer! The only real complaint was the bar which was small for such a big hotel, took a while to get served. No TV room.

Fantastic Hotel and facilities 👏🏽

First visit to Dalmahoy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Share a double "family" room with a friend. Ample space for an overnighter. Super comfy beds and relatively quiet. Woken by some late night revellers going to their rooms, doors could be a bit more sound proof. On a DBB rate with a round of golf. 3 course meal menu was adequate but not extensive. Food quality was good, would have been nice to have bread included but heyho. Dining room was bright and vibrant, bar area bit old fanshioned but comfortable. Free pint of Dalmahoy lager was very nice.Breakfast was a well stocked buffet, only diappointment was no lorne sausage. Staff friendly and helpful, definately worth another visit.

Couldn't fault it. Only issue we had was that the booking had come through from YGT as a double instead of a single, but the hotel sorted that with a minimum of fuss. Good 3 course dinner and excellent course. Unfortunately due to weather, West Course wasn't playable on the Monday, but we just asked for a voucher from the hotel and that was sorted immediately. Excellent

Great facility and settings, rooms were fine. Bathrooms could do with updating. Staff were very poorly trained and very unattentive. Food was very average. Breakfast was extremely poor. Really enjoyed the golf side of things and facility but the stay at the hotel overall was poor and would go back for a round but not to stay at the hotel.

Fabulous hotel and surroundings and great golf course. My only issue was the menu for the evening meal was very limited without paying a supplement. Otherwise great food including breakfast and reasonably priced bar, unfortunately didn't get to use the gym/pool facilities but they looked top notch.

Hotel has a lovely setting ! Rooms nice , staff friendly. Weather terrible so affected our golf on the sat but manage a very wet round on the sun after a tasty breakfast. not easy to find the hotel on google maps takes you to a back road that’s on the perimeter!!!!. Hopefully get back to play main east course as rained off on sat defo worth a visit 👍🏻GC

Lovely hotel. Really helpful and pleasant staff. Room was fine if a little smaller than I would have expected. Everything else was excellent.

First class rooms.Bar space restricted due to a wedding. Only down side was their beer was off replaced it eventually after some hassle other wise faultless.

Long walk from reception, but rooms clean and comfortable. No real complaints and after two nights in Edinburgh, a couple in the local and meal back at the hotel was ideal.

The championship course and a lot longer and more difficult than its smaller neighbour, the East. Having said that though it is a very fair test of golf with quite wide fairways, limited rough, quite a few wooded copses which can be difficult to come out of a number of strategically placed fairway and green side bunkers. The finishing stretch has a good variety of difficult holes. Would highly recommend.

A very well maintained fairly short course with no issues arising about it's condition. Wide fairways with limited rough which is ideal for our mixed handicap 4 ball. There are a number of interesting holes particularly the last 4 as you swing back to the hotel.

Had a fantastic round. Like any course, if you’re swinging the club well it is very scorable. But the bunkers are tough and if the course is hard, the bounce had to judge. It’s in fantastic condition though, greens roll true and flawless! It’s clearly very well looked after. Would 100% return!

Challenging course and long par 4s. Tree lined fairways and greens surrounded by bunkers. Short game really needs to be working for you on this course

It's a tight course with neighbour close to each other so a wild tee shot sometimes occurs but having said that for the average golfer you can have a fun round and have a good go of beating the course.

We changed our tee time to just after 08.00 to avoid a very large visiting party so got round fairly quickly including a welcome refreshment at the halfway house. Course is in great condition with many (courteous) greenkeepers visible throughout our round. Looking forward to our annual visit again next year !

We were overwhelmed at the hospitality facilities rooms and staff.The food was exceptional and we cannot thank Dalmahoy for such a wonderful time we used the pool sauna and steam room and all of these areas were spotless with excellent changing rooms and staff (fresh towels were provided )The rooms were spacious ,spotless and again fresh towels provided daily.The food and portions was excellent and menu choice was excellent.We had a great experience and will be returning you will not get better value.

Less of a challenge but we were catering for the older golfer in our party. You still had to get the ball in the hole, still very enjoyable.

Greens were a bit patchy but overall still a great course and we actually had a calm day.

Easier than the east but tight in places. Still a very good course in its own right with some superb par 3s.

the course was fine but round was very slow in our opinion 4 hours 45 min Difficult to rate this course for me because as i say for our party the round was to slow and unfortunately because of the weather the day before the bunkers were out of play

time on this course was fine until we were called off the course for lightning and torrential rain after 12 holes the director of golf Craig was great and offered us another round Thursday which we took ( unfortunately we had torrential rain again after 12 holes )maybe get the last six when we come back

A great wee course to play your second round on. Short but has its challenges. Very enjoyable course.

Enjoyable resort course. Fun track especially when the right club is used from the tee. No need to pull the driver out on most holes. Interesting layouts, a fun quick round.

Probably the worst behaviour I've ever seen on a golf course by drunk Americans riding round on buggies. Won't be going back as visitors money seems more important than anything else.

Greens much faster than the west course, a long and generally straight course which requires good skill levels to achieve par. Personally one round on the east course is enough unless your pretty fit, 3 rounds in 2 days was a big ask.

A tough course with most par 4s around 400 yards. The greens had been tine hollered so were not at their best.

Shorter holes than the East but still a test in the breeze to hit the smaller greens. Club up on the short 16th

Muddy, but only to be expected.

March therefore a bit muddy, but only to be expected!

Course was good, it had rained the night before we played so it was very wet under feet but that can't be helped greens where in good condition for the time of year.

Some of greens very heavily sanded and not draining well. Apart from that great course. Back 9 more interesting with some challenging holes. 1st hole Par 5 up hill is a tough start. Watch out for big tree on the left. Also played front 9 on West also a good course.

What a great track the East Course is we will be going back to play this again! We played it not long after the greens were all Hollow Tine'd which you can expect at this time of year but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of playing the course!

The course was in good condition considering it was the start of the Winter Season, all our group enjoyed their round!

Quite long but fair, very playable for all standards

Shorter than the West course but seemed to be a bit tighter. Greens appeared to be slightly quicker and in better condition although still some moss in places. It would help if players would rake bunkers and repair pitch marks as there seemed to be quite a lot.

Tough course although we played off the yellow tees. The greens were good and rolled true although they didn't look great and had a lot of moss in places and some strange slime on the 13th green. Although we had two dry days the greens were quite wet from previous rain.

Great testing little course. Greens were very good. All 8 of us enjoyed it.

Fantastic Golf Course. Great test of Golf, and all 8 of us throughly enjoyed it. Greens were not at their best and I think there is a program of work planned for the Greens, but overall it did not ruin anything for us.

A sunday driver is probably not the best time to be on a golf course as busy as Dalmahoy. Stuck behind a few 4 balls of young men obviously on a bender weekend. One definately couldn't play so much time was spent looking for his ball and us standing around. Interesting course, as long as you don't mind blind tee shots and lots of up and downs and huge bumkers its a good test. Very helpful starter gave us some tips which we tried to remember and would have helped if we had. Was realy windy and got a bit cold late afternoon so we gave up at the 15th so we had time to have a drink before dinner. Definately worth another visit.

Enjoyed the course and although windy had a good round . Pace of play was extremely slow , 5 hour round unfortunately.

It was great. The round was slow due to our own golf! Again a chilled out atmosphere especially since you could have a couple of beers going round while playing.

Wide fairways on most holes with I would say 2 tight holes where you had to be a straight hitter on the back nine, greens were of a good size on course plenty of fly bunkers lol on course too

overall this course is much shorter and the condition was not as manicured as the East course. Course layout was great but the difference is obvious.

At first the fourball in front of us were extremely slow, but they allowed us through and the pace picked up.

Much more comfortable on this shorter course than its companion course. Presented in superb condition. Great fun to play. A fair test of golf. Clubhouse very welcoming for non members.

This course is really tough for higher handicap players. Very long on a very windy day. Course was really good and challenging. Enjoyed the experience.

West course a lot easier then east possibly more enjoyable for some players

East course a real challenge for any golfer. Some long par 4&5holes and tricky par 3 would go back anytime

A couple of our higher handicappers managed to hit the tree with the honey bees in, so buzzed through a couple of holes in double quick time. A tough test for any golfer, but we all enjoyed the track though our scoring was poor on the most part. Glad Barry Ross from YGT booked us the West Course ahead of the East Course as it was the right way round for our group.

Fortunately, Barry at YGT put us on this track on day two of our stay after we had walked the monster West Course the day before, so ideal way round to play them and only an expert with course knowledge would know which way round was best.

We enjoyed our round over the well designed east course with the 13th and 14th presenting a particular challenge!
