Purpose-built to host championship golf from day one, this is far more than a hotel with golf attached. Designed by renowned architect Robert E. Cupp, the East and West Courses have welcomed some of the biggest names in the game, including the legendary Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam. The resort has also played host to the European Open, European Challenge Tour events and European Tour Qualifying School, cementing its reputation as one of the country's leading championship venues.
While its tournament pedigree is undeniable, what makes East Sussex National truly special is that it's designed to be enjoyed by every golfer. The championship back tees stretch beyond 7,000 yards for those wanting to experience the courses at their toughest, while multiple tee positions allow every player to enjoy the same outstanding layouts at a length that suits their game. Whether you're travelling for your annual society trip, a weekend with friends or a golf getaway with your partner, every round feels rewarding.
Beyond the fairways, East Sussex National delivers the complete resort experience. Relax in one of 104 spacious bedrooms overlooking the courses, unwind in the award-winning Horsted Spa, enjoy exceptional dining overlooking the Sussex Downs and finish the day with a drink on the terrace as the sun sets across the fairways. With everything in one place, there's no need to leave the resort. Simply arrive, settle in and enjoy one of the South East's finest golf destinations.

If you've ever wanted to walk the same fairways as some of golf's greatest players, the East Course is where your round begins.
Designed by Robert E. Cupp and created with championship golf in mind, the East Course has hosted the European Open, European Challenge Tour events and European Tour Qualifying School, welcoming legends of the game including Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam. From the moment you step onto the first tee, it's clear this is a course built for the biggest stage.
Stretching beyond 7,000 yards from the championship gold tees, the East Course offers a true championship experience for those wanting to test every aspect of their game. Thankfully, multiple tee positions mean golfers can enjoy the same superb layout at a length that matches their ability, making it every bit as enjoyable for a relaxed fourball or society day as it is for accomplished players.
Generous driving areas encourage you to swing confidently from the tee, but the course steadily reveals its character as you play. Beautifully conditioned fairways lead to large, undulating greens protected by thoughtfully positioned bunkers and subtle run-offs that reward good course management and imaginative shot-making. It's the sort of layout that encourages you to think your way around rather than simply overpower it.
Save something for the closing stretch too. The finishing holes are among the finest in the country, providing a memorable conclusion to a round that balances championship pedigree with genuine enjoyment.
Signature Hole – 17th Par 4 | 450 yards (Gold Tees)
One of the East Course's most photographed holes, the 17th perfectly captures everything that makes this championship layout so memorable. Water hugs the left side before cutting across the fairway, demanding a well-placed tee shot that favours strategy over brute force.
The approach is no less impressive. Playing slightly uphill to a beautifully protected green with water waiting below, it asks golfers to commit to their club selection while rewarding a well-struck shot. Whether you walk away with a par or simply a great story for the clubhouse, it's a hole that stays with you long after the round has finished.

The West Course has a habit of surprising people.
Often overshadowed by its championship sibling, many golfers arrive expecting it to play second fiddle, only to leave talking about it just as much. More intimate in character and wonderfully scenic, the West winds through rolling Sussex countryside with a rhythm and personality all of its own.
Although it actually stretches slightly further than the East from the back tees, it plays very differently. Tighter driving lines, gently undulating fairways and subtle changes in elevation place the emphasis on accuracy, strategy and course management rather than outright distance. Like the East, multiple tee positions ensure every golfer can enjoy the layout in a way that suits their game.
It's this variety that makes East Sussex National such a rewarding golf break. After experiencing the scale and championship theatre of the East Course, the West provides a contrasting round that feels equally memorable for entirely different reasons. Many returning visitors even find themselves debating which of the two they prefer.
The West Course at East Sussex National is ranked as one of the best courses in London and the South East
Signature Hole – 12th Par 5 | 542 yards (Gold Tees)
The West Course is packed with memorable holes, but the par-5 12th is one you'll be talking about long after the final putt drops.
Horsted Creek shadows the hole almost from tee to green, becoming more influential with every shot. Longer hitters may be tempted to attack the green in two, but careful decision-making is often the wiser route, with water guarding the approach and distinctive American-style mounding protecting the left-hand side.
It's a hole that rewards patience and good judgement just as much as power, making it a fitting signature for a course that proves great golf isn't always about hitting the ball the furthest.

Whether you're looking to loosen up before your tee time or spend an afternoon fine-tuning your game, the Academy at East Sussex National is one of the finest practice facilities in the South East.
The extensive driving range features both grass and all-weather hitting areas, allowing golfers to practise throughout the year, while dedicated pitching, chipping and bunker areas provide the perfect opportunity to sharpen every part of your game. Three putting greens and a championship-standard three-hole Academy Course complete the experience, making it an excellent facility for everyone from first-time visitors to experienced golfers preparing for an important competition.
It's yet another reason why East Sussex National is far more than somewhere to simply turn up and play 18 holes.
Every great golf day deserves a great finish, and the clubhouse at East Sussex National is the perfect place to relive the best shots of the day.
With welcoming indoor spaces and a terrace overlooking the courses, it's easy to settle in with breakfast before your round, enjoy lunch between games or raise a glass after the final putt. Whether you're comparing scorecards, watching live sport or simply soaking up the atmosphere, it's a place golfers naturally gravitate towards throughout their stay.
Practical touches make life easy too. Spacious changing rooms feature lockers, power showers and a sauna to help you unwind after your round, while the well-stocked Professional Shop has everything you could need, supported by a knowledgeable team always happy to offer advice or assistance.
East Sussex National has been designed with golfers' comfort in mind from the moment you arrive.
The resort offers a convenient bag drop service, allowing you to leave your clubs at the clubhouse before checking in. Your equipment will be transferred to the course, ready for your arrival on the first tee, before being securely stored overnight and prepared again for the following day's round. A complimentary club cleaning service ensures your equipment is always ready for the next day's golf.
Both courses are enjoyable to walk, although their rolling terrain means many visitors choose to hire a buggy, particularly when playing 36 holes during their stay. To help preserve the excellent course conditions, a 90-degree buggy policy operates for much of the year.
Halfway houses on both courses offer refreshments and light bites, making it easy to recharge before tackling the closing holes.
After a day on the fairways, the four-star hotel provides the perfect place to relax and recharge before tomorrow's round.
The resort's 104 spacious bedrooms combine contemporary comfort with spectacular views across the golf courses and rolling Sussex countryside. Designed with golfers in mind, there's plenty of space for clubs, luggage and everything else that comes with a golfing getaway, while comfortable beds and modern bathrooms ensure you're refreshed and ready for another day on the course.
Whether you're staying for one night or enjoying a long weekend, everything is just a short stroll away, allowing you to make the most of every moment of your golf break.
Great golf deserves great food, and East Sussex National offers dining experiences to suit every occasion.
For relaxed post-round dining, Hunningtons Grill serves seasonal dishes in comfortable surroundings overlooking the courses, making it the perfect place to gather after a day on the fairways. If you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to elevate your evening, the two AA Rosette Pavilion Restaurant showcases refined cuisine created using the finest seasonal ingredients.
The Lounge Bar and Ryder Bar provide welcoming spaces to enjoy everything from a morning coffee before your round to a well-earned pint afterwards. As conversations turn to birdie putts, heroic recoveries and the one that got away, there's no better place to round off the day.
One of East Sussex National's greatest strengths is that the experience extends well beyond the golf.
The Horsted Spa offers the perfect opportunity to unwind after your round, with a swimming pool, sauna, eucalyptus steam room and a range of luxurious ESPA treatments designed to relax tired muscles and leave you feeling refreshed for the next day's golf.
Guests also have access to a fully equipped Technogym fitness suite, alongside a programme of fitness classes including yoga, Pilates and spinning. Whether you're travelling with a partner who prefers the spa to the fairways or simply looking to enjoy a little recovery time between rounds, the leisure facilities are every bit as impressive as the golf itself.
East Sussex National is much more than a championship golf venue. It's a destination where outstanding golf, exceptional hospitality and beautiful surroundings come together to create one of the UK's most complete golf break experiences.
With two contrasting championship courses, a four-star hotel, luxury spa, excellent restaurants and everything conveniently located within one stunning countryside estate, it's easy to see why so many golfers return year after year.
Whether you're planning your annual society trip, a weekend with friends or a golf and spa escape, East Sussex National offers the perfect balance of championship golf and relaxed luxury, ensuring every visit is one to remember.

Hotel and facilities were very good. Pleasantly surprised that the hotel did not look "tired" as you see with a lot of hotel and golf resorts. Maybe private ownership helps?! Rooms were spacious, clean and tidy. Balcony and nice views over the courses. Only reason the hotel wasnt given 5 stars is that the bar area is an open plan extension of the reception foyer with two smallish tv's on the same wall, so only those facing that direction could easily see the Golf/World Cup or whatever event is on at the time. Seating was also possibly not sufficient for the numbers the hotel accommodates?

Good sized room, comfortable bed, room serviced daily during our 2 night three day stay. Wifi can only be described as awful, do not expect your golf watches and phone Apps to function, even the GPS on my Shot Scope could not be found on the West course. Not really acceptable at this level of facility!

We had a wonderful few rounds of golf. Sadly we found the staff to be generally rude with the exception of housekeeping, the Ryder bar by the pro shop inside. They shut the bag storage at 6 and said they weren’t paid to leave it open longer were going home. This inconvenience was felt by most of the group. We had to carry our bags back to rooms or cars. The marshals except one were not really friendly or helpful. The club bar shuts at 6. Which meant we then had to leave the area and go to the main reception to carry on drinking. Again when you’re all buzzing from playing a great course you want to enjoy it not be moved on.

Bizarrely, a faster round and what would appear to be a more difficult course for the "average" golfer. We teed off at 10.30 on Monday, maybe the course wasnt as full or a mid morning start avoids congestion which builds over the day? After a gentle opening couple of holes the course improves and is a lot more strategic than the East. The length off the Whites (and back tees) is almost identical to the East and is generally a more interesting and challenging round.

The East Course is meant to be the better of the two courses. The reality is that it is the course that has hosted spectator events, primarily because there is mounding at sides of fairways and/or generally more room for spectator movement. Off the back tees, the course is a monster and too long for the majority of players. The White tees are a shade over 6000 yds which is OK for a course where there are vastly mixed abilities. It helps with speed of play (although the round was slow (4hrs 50 mins on Sunday afternoon), it would have been even slower if the course was much longer. The problem is that the bunkering is designed for the back tees, which are 7000 yd plus courses, it means they are often redundant for anyone who hits the ball even moderately well off the tee. To my mind the gap in course length from Gold/Black tees to white is probably too great. Fairways were OK and pick and place in play. Greens decent and average speed. Fairway irrigation was difficult to spot and meant some crusty areas.

Lovely time on the east course, perfect weather and course in great condition. Only gripe was the long grass, many balls were lost but that’s more down to the level of our golf!
