Our ocean view room was very comfortable and the views over the pool and out to the beach and ocean were beautiful, just what you expect when you imagine Mauritius. The room was cleaned every day and the mini bar restocked as required. We found the the choice of food in the main restaurant adequate, nothing exceptional, but we certainly didn’t go hungry. One big disappointment was The Italian restaurant. The service was dreadful, we waited a full hour after our order before getting our main course. (We didn’t have starters). We could see others diners were also waiting a long time too. The meal itself was warm not hot but I didn’t send it back because I’d waited so long!

Heritage Golf Club
The designer's remit was to create a course that matched the spectacular local landscape, and he has succeeded in magnificent fashion. Wound around the imposing Chateau De Bel Ombre and its exotic gardens, the Heritage Golf Club is among the south coast's most beautiful, affording views not only of the sea, but also the Black River Gorges nature reserve, which borders many of the holes.
From the championship tee markers, the course can be extended to a daunting 7,116 yards, and requires a buggy, but there are tees suitable for golfers of all abilities, as befits a top class golf and leisure resort. Great banks of rough and expanses of water are among the hazards that encroach on the Heritage Golf Club, which is an integral part of a luxury golf escape to Mauritius' southern shore.
If the championship course is too tough, then head to the resort's nine-hole par-3 course, which is perfect for beginners and youngsters.

The course was a good challenge and very interesting. Each hole was different which meant that we did not get bored with the course itself. Unfortunately, the pull trolleys were very difficult to manoeuvre through the Bermuda grass and the fairly steep hills, plus they are approx £10 each to hire! There are no electric trolleys and despite the fact we prefer to walk, we had to hire a buggy for 5 of our 7 rounds. The organisation at the golf club was very poor. On our final round we turned up in plenty of time for our 9:44am tee off, only to be told we were due to play at 8:48am. They rescheduled the tee times because of a competition, but failed to contact us to let us know, although they knew our room number. We were not the only players to experience this communication mess up. We did get out to play but it was our slowest round as there were so many players having to be slotted in due to the inefficient organisation. Also, because of this competition, which was not advertised at anytime during the week, the restaurant was reserved for the competitors so we could not have lunch, just a quick drink at the bar. It was such a shame to end our holiday on this bad experience, we had enjoyed the course and sitting out on the terrace having lunch with playing partners.
