We booked a room with a “mountain view”. The rooms are dark anyway and we found this a bit to dark for us so we paid 50 euros/ night to upgrade to a suite which was excellent and well worth it. If you don’t want to pay this I recommend a room with a “pool view”.
The course is ok, greens are quick and true, bunkers are not very good, stoney with little sand. Overall not bad and quite challenging. If you want to practice this is the place, excellent range, chipping and putting greens.
The food is not bad but they skimp on veg with main courses both in quantity and temperature. It’s like they’re trying to do haute cuisine but haven’t quite got it. Having said that there is plenty of variety and the fish was always great. Drinks are reasonably priced £3 for a large beer, £13 for a bottle of decent house wine.
The best thing about Elba is the staff. Courteous, flexible, patient and cheerful can’t praise them enough.
I would recommend and will probably return.
