The Hyatt House Scottsdale offers one and two-bedroom suites designed to give golf groups more space and flexibility than a typical hotel room. Every suite is en-suite throughout, with separate living areas that let you relax, watch TV or catch up on the day's golf without retreating to your bedroom. I'll admit I'm a big fan of anywhere that lets a group have a living area, because it stops the whole trip turning into four blokes sitting on beds scrolling tee times.
Each suite comes with a fully fitted kitchen, including hob, fridge, microwave and all the essentials if you want to prepare your own breakfast or snacks between rounds. There's a 32" flat screen TV in the living area, DVD player and direct dial telephone. The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed, with enough space to sort kit and get organised without tripping over golf bags.
The one-bedroom suites work well for couples or smaller groups, while the two-bedroom suites can accommodate larger parties, with enough space for everyone to have their own room and a shared living area for evening planning sessions or post-round debriefs. If you've got a specific group size in mind, it's worth checking the exact bedding and sofa-bed configuration before you book so the layout matches your plans.
At the centre of the property is an outdoor swimming pool with surrounding sun terraces, perfect for unwinding after 36 holes in the Arizona heat. The pool area is a popular spot for guests to gather in the late afternoon, and there's also a 24-hour fitness centre, fully equipped with cardio machines, free weights and resistance equipment, so you can keep up your routine or work out any stiffness from the course.
The hotel's Morning Spread breakfast is included in your stay and offers a solid hot and cold buffet with an omelette bar, fresh fruit, pastries, cereals and all the usual options. It's a proper sit-down breakfast that sets you up for a morning round without needing to hunt down a café first. The hotel also runs regular complimentary social events in the evenings, with drinks and light snacks on the house, which is ideal for groups, especially on arrival night.
The Old Town Scottsdale location is a major draw. You're within easy walking distance of a huge choice of restaurants, from casual Mexican spots and steakhouses to upscale dining and cocktail bars. The area is walkable, lively and packed with galleries, shops and nightlife, so there's plenty to do when you're not on the course. For golfers, you're also ideally placed for quick access to TPC Scottsdale, Grayhawk, Troon North and the rest of the Valley's championship layouts, with most courses reachable in around 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and tee time.
