Despite only opening in 2002, the remarkable golf course at Miklagard is already among Norway's best, and ranks within the top ten in Scandinavia. Designed by the world-renowned Robert Trent Jones Junior, the intention is to host international tournament at the highest professional level, and in fact its construction was sponsored by the European Tour.
In association with Darren Webster-Clarke, Trent Jones has created a monstrous championship track, which can be stretched to a frightening 7,334 yards from the tips. In spite of its comparative youth, the golf course has matured beautifully, and assimilated into the native environment with superb subtlety. The highlight for many, and Miklagard's main selling point, is the quality of the greens - visitors from far and wide are left amazed and confounded by the speed and purity of the greens.
Though not a golfing destination of international repute, Norway is on the up, and with that the stock of Miklagard is sure to rise, so beat the hordes and experience the best that Scandinavia has to offer.
