Pennard Golf Club, often called "The Links in the Sky", is a classic Welsh links founded in 1896 on the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Set around 200 feet above sea level, it delivers big views over Three Cliffs Bay and towards Oxwich, with a rugged layout that feels wonderfully natural rather than overly manicured.
The course's free-draining ground is a handy bonus for a coastal venue, helping keep it playable for much of the year, even when other links can struggle. Expect plenty of movement underfoot too, with natural undulations, dunes and well-placed bunkers asking you to think your way around. Wind plays its part most days, so you will need to keep the ball down and choose your shots carefully.
Off the course, visitors get a genuinely friendly welcome, with facilities that make it an easy stop for a golf break. There are long and short practice ranges to get loose before you head out, a fully stocked Pro Shop for essentials and a welcoming Bar & Restaurant for a post-round drink and bite to eat.
And while Pennard feels nicely removed from it all, you are still only 8 miles from the centre of Swansea, so it works brilliantly for groups who want a proper links test by day and a bit of buzz after golf.

Established in 1896, Pennard owes thanks to its creators James Braid and C.K. Cotton, whose legacy is a links layout that traverses the humps, hillocks, mounds and hollows of the amazing landscape. The course is framed by vibrant gorse and heather, demanding that players constantly adapt to uneven lies and rugged terrain—which only gets more dramatic on the back nine. With its breathtaking natural beauty, the layout seamlessly weaves through towering dunes and coastal cliffs, offering an addictive, thrilling challenge that leaves golfers eager for another round.
Pennard, unlike many seaside courses, is not located immediately on the shoreline, rather it is perched on the cliff top, some 200 feet above the sea. This position makes it truly unique, providing incredible views.

5.5 hrs for a round of golf is to long! Society in front of us and the course just backed up!

Unfortunately we followed a number of 4 balls, so it took us over 4 1/2 hours. It was very windy on the day but that added to the joy of the day. A real links challenge. It wasn’t the easiest walk. As a senior golfer I had to be a very careful where I stepped, as the ground was often uneven. I would recommend a buggy, not something I usually do.

A wonderful course full of golfing challenges and the most scenic views. It was in great condition throughout and is a must play for all golfers. Excellent staff throughout the club.

Disappointing .. YGT booked us as a mixed 2 ball behind 45 two balls !! We only managed to play 14 holes before we lost the will to live

Whilst Marshall’s were seen driving around during the round they did nothing to speed up play but rather have a chat with the members playing instead

A lovely course with some stunning views. My party seemed to enjoy it more than Porthcawl as while still very challenging the rough was a lot more forgiving and the lost ball count much lower. Again we saw that it’s best in glorious sunshine which made for another memorable days golf.

Top course really hard, the 17th is the hardest hole I’ve played! The only think that lets it down is the club house for a top course it wasn’t anything special
