0800 043 6644The Montgomery Course is fair for the weekend or occasional golfer yet the course provides a test for the more accomplished and experienced player. The Montgomery's statistics (6,508 yards, par 72, SSS 72) are not jaw-dropping yet why have so few good golfers broken 80 on this course? The addition of new white tees plus 19 new bunkers and a pond made life a little more difficult but perhaps the answer to the question can be found at the very first hole, a slightly downhill short hole where most will consider the 161 yards from the white tees to be less than daunting.
Yet any shot that misses the difficult green will, more often than not, lead to a bogey. And so it goes on The Montgomery: many holes may seem straightforward on the scorecard yet the subtleties of the design combine with penal bunkering and challenging green complexes to create a course that makes consistent scoring difficult. A stern test to relish!
If The Montgomery is the sensible, polite, and determined sister destined for a life of professionalism and hard work, then The Bruce is the sister who is less predictable and more likely to stray off the beaten path. Proof comes in the par-39 outward nine where you'll find four par-5s in the space of six holes.
Yes, the challenge is a little gentler on The Bruce. Weekend golfers often find The Bruce is more to their liking but the better golfer who sees four early par-5s and thinks, "that's four birdie holes" often finds their card in shreds embarrassingly early in the round. Yet sometimes, even a modest golfer finds a way to take advantage of the scoring opportunities that The Bruce presents.
Golfing at Kinross fits in perfectly with the tranquil, classically traditional atmosphere of a stay at The Green Hotel.
The Green Hotel is a more traditional historic property which dates back to the eighteen century as a coaching inn and is just across the road from the golf courses.
There are two super dining options to choose from. At The Green Hotel guests can enjoy a meal in the elegant Basil's Grill restaurant or in Jock's Bar Coaching Inn, and enjoy a drink in the pretty Courtyard Bar.
Hotels need of a bit of refurb but on the whole clean comfortable with decent food and friendly helpful staff.
The whole experience was very good staff were charming and couldn’t have been more helpful. First class
Most staff very helpful and friendly. Young woman supervisor at Dinner obviously not happy in her job. Dinner not great. Breakfast very good. Rooms and Corridors very tired looking but clean.
We were a party of 4 & from the minute we arrived the staff were very friendly & attentive. The rooms we had were spacious, a comfy bed & loads of hot water. Ideal for the night between our 2 rounds of golf.
Great location slightly dated but super for the time we spent there
The Hotel stay was very good, a few things came from all the lads, the rooms were too warm as the heating was constantly on in the hotel, breakfast and dinner was very good and no complaints bar the room for both was too warm and guys had to go for fresh air because of the heat, The golf courses were good although we had booked and paid for buggies through your golf travel this was not the case as the pro shop charged for the buggies, I had my paper work with me which stated we had paid already and the pro refunded the guys but it was a bit of a headache before teeing off on the Friday, excellent facilities though as the visiting changing room you could leave your clubs etc there for the next day.
Perfect location for our golf break, food was excellent and staff very helpful.
Food and staff were great, rooms need updated,
Reception area not very helpful. Didn’t even ask if we had had a nice stay. Booked our meal for 2nd night at Reception on arrival no table booked. Had to wait for a table to be cleaned and set. Breakfast staff excellent also Jocks bar were helpful . Room above the Back stage music until 10.30 that was okay. It was the staff clearing up after that until 1.00 o’clock in the morning.
The hotel was quite dated in their furnishing, but you could not fault the service given by the staff. We had a fire alarm during our stay which I felt could of been handled a bit better with some communication from the staff to the guests whilst we were waiting for the all clear. One all three nights the hotel ran out of Tenents lager.
Hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent and evening meal OK.
The accommodation was very good a lot of updating needed over all.. food was great friendly helpful staff and across the road from golf course we will book again.?
Staff are really welcoming. Food was good, bar prices fair. Rooms are dated but offer appropriate comfort. Excellent value all round.
Hotel ok food was excellent
This was our fifth stay here but I'm afraid the standard and comfort of the rooms has gone downhill in need of a bit of tender love and care
Great hotel and staff however the rooms a little dated and especially the bathrooms require some TLC
For a golfing break - good value for money. Food / restaurant was fine. Rooms / general condition of hotel could do with some work, dated / tired. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not sure about the ‘ & Leisure resort’ in the name, no leisure facilities, but after a round of golf - not really looking for much :) Would use again for a golfing weekend.
Ideal location - just a few hundred yards from the golf course. Staff looked after us well. Given a private room for our evening meal. Overall very good.
Perfect set up for a lads golfing trip, we all enjoyed the hotel and golf courses very much.
The staff were great. All very pleasant and efficient. The food in the restaurant was plentiful. The two non-golfers found the portions too big and resorted to sharing - which meant we tried more dishes. The bar served all the usual range of beverages including a Loch Leven gin. The bedrooms had all the usual amenities. There is a bath in each of the bathrooms so access wise, a shower would be better. There is no lift so if you find stairs difficult, ask for a ground floor room. A highlight was the courtyard style garden in the middle of the hotel with easy access to the restaurant and bar. Ideal for breakfast on a warm day (there were plenty of those) and for an early evening drink.
The hotel is currently undergoing a make up of painting etc the rooms are very tired an need a lot doing to bring them back to a good standard. Overall though the staff and food were very good.
The service and food was excellent but the hotel has seen better days but we hope the owners will continue with their refurbishment programme quickly before customers vote with their feet
Excellent friendly, helpful staff….excellent dinner and breakfast.
Great location rooms clean and comfortable nice little hotel
Moved to Rusacks due to double booking. Hot fantastic
simple accommodation but great service and food was good
Hotel is a little rundown and is in need of some investment.
Great staff and service, restricted to a few things because of COVID but would stay here again.
Room clean tidy bathroom also clean plenty of room everything you need for a short break our third time here perfect for the golf will be back
The hotel is a bit dated but the rooms were very big, clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly I would have no hesitation in going back
Comfortable hotel. We would have liked a softer bed. Also the wifi wasn’t working in the rooms. Apart from the above would recommend.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Choice and quality of the food menu was excellent. Good selection of beers, including some fine ale from the brewery in Kinross. For our twin room booking was actually a family room with two bedrooms and a bathroom which suited us well.
superb hotel food excellent so handy for courses staff superb no complaints whatsoever will definately come back
The hotel was lovely, large rooms, clean but require a little TLC to upgrade them. Staff were excellent and food very good.

We arrived early and pro let us go off! The course on the whole was in very good condition albeit tends to hold water and was fairly wet in some parts. All in all we had a very enjoyable break!
Course was in fairly good condition. Signage could probably be a bit more obvious but as we knew the course well this wasn’t a problem.
Again really good all round
Really nice course challenging. Course map on score card would be a good addition - But facilities were excellent and condition of course was first class
Excellent layout and condition. Greens Excellent. Bunkers dreadful let's the course down badly. Clubhouse staff & food superb.
Excellent layout and condition. Greens Excellent. Bunkers dreadful let's the course down badly. Clubhouse staff & food superb.
Our groups handicaps ranged from mid teens to high twenties, so that's why I've described the course as hard. The time on the Montgomery was more respectable, just over 3 hours. The greens on both courses were excellent, fast, with tricky pin positions. The bunkers on both courses could have been better, but I don't know if that was due to the weather at the tail end of last week, the sand was very compact & i know i'm not a good bunker player, but there were a few times, over the 2 days when we all struggled to get out first time. In closing, the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our trip & would definitely recommend anyone to try the Green Hotel & the 2 courses just across the road.
When we checked in on the Saturday to play the Bruce (12.04), the pro Greig explained that it was very busy & it would be a slow pace. He very kindly offered to move us on to the Montgomery, but the issue was getting an equivalent time on the Sunday, which was going to be around 10.30, while our original Sunday tee time was 9.24 Unfortunately one of the group had to get back home, as he had plans & the hour delay meant we couldn't take him up on swapping the courses. We had to wait on almost every hole, which meant it was a 5 hour round. On some holes there were 3 groups on the tee
Slightly easier than Montgomery but most enjoyable
Great course difficult for us high handicappers But what do you expect Great set our
Good condition but very wet at places.
Course was in great condition despite weeks of rain.
Very good course, loved it apart from stones in bunker,
Great course played from white tees witch made it a lot tougher than playing from yellows would recommend playing here, the only down side is the stones in the bunkers,
Played this course on many occasions very enjoyable
Unfortunately due to weather conditions could only play 9 holes, but love this course
Great course, Golf professional was very helpful giving us so tips on the course. The only let down on the whole weekend was the poor service given by Your Golf Travel, on their communication, organisation and service, they certainly didn't go the "Extra Yard"
Great course well managed.
Course was in good condition and like the Montgomery the bunkers were a bit sticky.
Course was in good condition. Tees were a bit hairy and the bunkers, whilst improved from last year, were still a bit sticky.
Or so lucky playing Monday heavy rain through night got wet first nine holes kind of put a damper on it….😊 3or4 holes with water hazard so more thought required 2nd nine The weather got a lot better greens, fairways excellent same as the Bruce bunkers not much better..overall we enjoyed our visit another Trip looks definite,
First day we had good weather conditions which helped in the enjoyment fairways good width excellent conditions greens the same lots of undulating,! only thing bunkers were terrible needed Sorting out..
Easier of the two courses but still some good challenges. Green staff and Pro shop spot on. My group will be back.
Great course, with good challenging holes. Greens were quirky but in great condition.
Course was quite on both days really enjoyed courses
Bruce course for the average golfer montgomery course for the better players would be doing good to break 90 on montmomery
Course was in fantastic condition a pleasure to play
Course was in fantastic condition a great round for all abilities
Course has been affected by the summer dry spell with pockets of bare lies, the bunkers are the same as last year…full of stones which damage the clubs.
Enjoyed the course however one of the members had a buggy that continued to break down, couldn’t contact the pro shop for assistance. On getting back in spoke with the pro shop…who didn’t seem interested
Best of the two courses, nicely laid out, not so much cheek to jowl with other holes/fairways. No real difference in difficulty between this and the Bruce off the tee, and also on most ( some two level greens) of the greens - so I wouldn’t say it was scary for high handicappers - and it’s a much nicer walk round than the Bruce. Lovely course, and if we go again (3 rounds over the weekend) would look for 2 on this one , as opposed to 2 on the Bruce - and we’re a 4 ball of 10-24 handicap players.
Enjoyable course , bunkers needing some work - but a lot of rain recently , so maybe to be expected. A lot of close proximity tee/green’s - upside is little walking between them - downside is that you have to keep reacting to the shouts of errant tee shots.
Course was in good condition and played very well and all the group enjoyed playing it. Like the Montgomery however the bunkers were poor. This was our only complaint.
Excellent course although it was wet under ground. Not surprising given the overnight heavy rain but was still very playable. Like last year however the bunkers were very poor with lots of impediments in them. This was our only complaint.
A hard course for handicaps over 20
A hard course for handicaps over 20
No buggies available for this course but as it turned out, we didn't need one. A good course after the challenges of the PGA at Gleneagles. The course is opposite the Green Hotel so didn't need to move the car. A great welcome in the club house for a few celebratory beers after the round.
Course in a fair condition overall fairways well maintained but again the bunkers are poor and need to be completely overhauled and new sand
The course overall is generally good considering the weather conditions over the past month. However the bunkers are very poor with lots of stones large and small. All the bunkers need to be completely overhauled and the sand changed
Again as with the Montgomery the Bruce course was in excellent condition and a pleasure to play it. We (a two ball) caught up with a local four ball and it was refreshing to be quickly called through as there are too many golfers today who don't - nice to witness good etiquette
The course was in excellent condition and a pleasure to play it
We enjoyed our welcome from the pro and some good advice about the course… the course and greens were in good order and we all loved it’s very fair and challenging nature.
My favourite of the two courses at the green hotel excellent condition will be back soon
Great course great condition a joy to play
Going course, bit wet due to poor weather
The bunkers were an improvement from the Montgomery course but still would rate them as 3 out of 10. They have been looked after better than the sister course but if they could be improved then the course would have been more enjoyable. Unfortunately due to the condition of the Montgomery Course I will probably swerve this course complex for the next 5 years or so.
The bunkers have had NO Money spent on them. All the bunkers were filled with NOT building sand but actual stones and more like type 1 building material. ONLY 1 bunker was marked as GUR but the rest were a disappointment. I have played the course in more than 10 times and this was the worst condition of bunkers I have came across in 35 years of golf.
Courses cross over a few times so you needed to be aware. Bunkers need attention.
A little easier than Montgomery for the most but still a good test of your golf.
Loved the course, challenging greens but getable with good distance control. Will be back.
Another outstanding course again in fantastic condition a true test of your skills no matter your handicap
Course in magnificent condition a true test for all standard of golfers no matter your handicap
this is the better of the 2 courses and a lot more testing, it has some very nice holes. though it was a nice sunny day the course was a bit heavy due to a lot of rain for a few days before. the ground staff done a great job, loved it
the course was in good condition but the heavy rain had taken it toll, I have played the course before in better weather conditions and its very nice. due to the rain we only got in 13 holes.
The better course. Very enjoyable.
Both first timers on this course so being loaned a Stroke Saver book before we started by the pro was a boost. There are many water hazards and knowing about them in advance was a great help. Like the Montgomery, a course that needs good navigation skills and challenges all levels of golfer.
Played this course at 1.30 on day of arrival. As a 2 ball we expected to be held up a bit so going round in 3.75 hrs was fine. Good course for visitors with wide fairways but water hazards and well protected greens make it a challenge for every level of golfer. On day 3 the pro kindly moved our time up to 9.20, ahead of the 4 balls and we sailed round in 3.25 hours which was appreciated.
same as the montgomery course thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back staff in clubhouse very helpful as well
excellent course one small complaint the sand in bunkers was more like gravel but still thoroughly enjoyed it and pro was great repaired a club for me at the time and reasonably priced
Only played 10 holes as the weather was unsuitable.
