    Tuckers Point

Formerly known as Castle Harbour Golf Club, the course at Tucker’s Point has been attracting golfers to Bermuda since the 1930s. In its current guise the course is very much a resort course, measuring just 6,321 yards from the tips and playing to a par of 70 and as such; Tucker’s Point offers a challenging yet enjoyable test of golf that won’t overawe the handicap golfer. In 2002, having undergone a total redesign by Roger Rulewich, Tucker’s Point boasts a number of the island’s most spectacular holes, where golfers must safely navigate undulating fairways, all the while taking into account the strength and direction of the coastal winds that buffet the course.

As previously mentioned, Tucker’s Point is the product of a total redesign of Charles H. Banks’ original Castle Harbour Course, carried out by Roger Rulewich of the Robert Trent Jones design company. Priding itself on pristine conditioning throughout the year, Tucker’s Point greens feature TifEagle grass, ensuring quick putting surfaces. The course traverses undulating terrain and with a number of elevated tees, golfers are treated to not only an enthralling course, but some truly breathtaking panoramic sea views.

Away from the fairways, Tucker’s Point boasts a lavish clubhouse that sits atop a hilltop offering views out over the course and the surrounding sea. The Grille Room and Bar offers a cosy pub-style setting, where golfers can enjoy quick meal after a round of golf, or indeed a refreshing cocktail and light bite by the fireplace of an evening. The Clubhouse is also home to Sul Verde Eatalian Osteria and Bar which serves a selection of special dishes with a focus on the very best Italian inspired cuisine.

Additional services at the golf club include club rental, where guests can procure the latest clubs from leading brands and to help navigate the course, GPS guided golf buggies are also available for hire. Due to the undulating nature of the course, walking can be tough so buggies do come highly recommended. On-course beverage cart service is also available to groups by appointment. Tucker’s Point guests also receive playing privileges at Mid Ocean Club, which, as well as being just 5 minutes away by car, consistently ranks among the world’s finest courses.

Dress Code: For men, shirts with collars and sleeves, paired with slacks or Bermuda shorts are advised. For ladies, dresses, skirts, slacks, mid-length shorts and blouses are a requirement. Golf shoes are a must.

    Accommodation

Far removed from the sprawling mega-hotel feel more commonly associated with modern day resorts, Tucker’s Point boasts just 88 guestrooms where the emphasis is very much placed on quality over quantity.

The majority of accommodation options, from Superior Rooms, to Two Bedroom Suites are located within the Manor House, and throughout the rest of the resort, guests looking for additional space and privacy can opt for private villa accommodations ranging from Villa Deluxe Rooms to the infinitely luxurious,  1,650 sq. ft Walsingham Suite. Room amenities throughout include twice-daily housekeeping services, flat-screen TVs, complimentary WiFi, luxury Heeley bathroom amenities and the very best of furnishings including Rivolta Carmignani Italian Linens. As the name suggests, Deluxe Poolside Rooms offers direct access to the Castle Harbor Pool, while the vast majority of accommodation options boast views out over Castle Harbour and into the blue expanses of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Dining options at Tucker’s Point are extensive and are headlined by “The Point”, which combines international flavours and cooking principles with fresh local ingredients for a fine dining experience like no other. Wine connoisseurs in particular will revel in a meal in the Wine Room, where thousands of vintages fill the wine-rack covered walls from the wood-plank floor to the vaulted brick ceiling.

More casual yet equally impressive dining options can be found at Sur Mer, the perfect spot for al fresco dining, and The Clubhouse, where guests can sample authentic Italian dishes, fine wines and homemade grappa.

Bermuda itself offers a vast array of flavours and cuisines from all over the world and Tucker’s Point believe it would be remiss of them not to ensure their guests can sample as much of what the island has to offer as they wish. With that in mind, be sure to inspect the resort’s list of recommended restaurants because from the Blue Bar & Grill, which boasts mesmerizing views of the Great Sound, to Wahoo’s, the perfect place to sample local seafood including the famous Bermuda Lobster; Bermuda is a haven for enthusiastic foodies.

Back at the resort, guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to their time away from the golf course, with extensive leisure and wellness facilities allowing your time at Tucker’s Point to be as relaxing or fun-filled as you wish. The resort boasts two swimming pools and plenty of chaise lounges and private cabanas where you can soak up the sun, and in the form of Sense, a Rosewood Spa, you’ve got the perfect haven in which to indulge in revitalising treatments or to simply escape from the stresses and strains of everyday life. The treatment menu is endless and even features the Rose Buds Junior Spa Menu for kids, and for those with a more energetic disposition, a fully equipped, 1,900-sq. ft fitness centre which features state-of-the-art equipment is also on site.

Sat in the heart of an island paradise, Tucker’s Point also offers easy access to a vast array of exciting activities. Specially curated tours allow guests to explore the island, while the Dive & Watersports Center offers qualifications in scuba diving, enabling you to discover Bermuda’s crystal-clear waters, home to some of the world’s best shipwreck and reef diving where guests can explore sunken ships dating back to the 1500s, as well as the underwater caves formed by the same volcanic eruptions that created this spectacular network of islands.
