0800 043 6644The layout was mapped by the great Tom Weiskopf, whose brief was not only to create a fantastic course, but one which also adapted sympathetically to the astounding natural environment.
The course at Zimbali tops out over 7,000 yards from the tips, and with a par of 73, it is a formidable test for even the most talented players – a certain highlight of any golf holiday around Durban and KwaZulu Natal.
Amid the abundant sea and wildlife of the estate, the Zimbali Lodge is an exclusive retreat for those visiting the KwaZulu Natal region on a golf holiday. The resort is formed around a natural lake, and is bordered by fantastic mature forests winding down to the sea front.
The accommodation at Zimbali is based on the independent lodges that are scattered throughout the resort. There are 76 guest bedrooms and suites at the resort, and all are finished with rich warm wood and russet tones, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for your stay.
Internal facilities include a mini-bar and deluxe marble bathrooms, while butlers are on hand to ensure your every demand is met. This luxurious and enticing destination is a charming base for any golfer visiting the coastline to Durban’s north on a golf holiday.
The resort offers its guests use of the amazing outdoor pool which overlooks the ocean, while you can also enjoy horse riding, walking, tennis and the indulgent beauty treatments of the spa.
Enjoy a well earned drink in the pool bar, which is elevated to provide fantastic views of the Indian Ocean.
The hotel is only about 8 years old so the rooms are modern, spacious and very well appointed with microwave, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and huge double bed. The buffet style main restaurant is not outstanding but fine. Breakfasts were good. You can eat out on the 'deck' with views out over the sea. The shuttle bus from the hotel to the golf course was not always reliable, particularly coming back to the hotel so we used our hire car instead to avoid a wait. It is a large hotel used for conferences so got quite busy at times but the hotel is big enough to absorb the numbers. Staff friendly and service generally fine.
Awesome room and location. Car required to get to local restaurants. Recommend b&b. Close to golf Concierge worked hard and beach club bar and pool a little more atmospheric

Beautiful course but a bit challenging off some tees as driving over some water to reach the fairway. Excellent halfway house facility and seems to be the norm to stop for something to eat! However well managed by the golf course staff who are friendly and helpful. It is a cart only course but the layout very well designed to take them with concrete tracks from the greens to tees. The buggies also have excellent GPS screens. If of interest there is plenty of bird/wildlife to see going round the course.
Awesome views and had the place to ourselves. Pity it was windy would like to go back and do it justice.
