Firstly we stayed in an apartment not a hotel. Check-in was OK but as we arrived at 1330hrs they wanted 10 Euros/hour to allow us access to an apartment that was already ready. We paid 20 Euros as we just wanted to get settled in. We had booked a one bedroom apartment but were given a two bedroom which was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The views from the back terrace were lovely. But.. it was a long, long way from the clubhouse. We did walk it and it was a 25 minute walk at a reasonable pace. Certainly not a walk you would want when going for breakfast or dinner and certainly not in the dark due to the numerous trip hazards en-route. The resort does offer an on demand shuttle service but it was a touch hit and miss. We had opted for half board and our first experience of the restaurant was dinner that evening. It was disappointingly mediocre. The service was fine and the staff friendly but the food was average. Breakfast the following day was also disappointing. No issues with the fresh fruit, juice or choice of milk on offer but no eggs to order and a selection of breakfast items in lukewarm chafing dishes was not what was expected and it didn't change for the next two mornings. Then to make matters worse one of the staff informed my wife not to remove a banana from the buffet as the food was only for consumption in the restaurant!! Sorry but not acceptable. It's a golfing resort and everybody takes a banana for the course and many make sandwiches as well and rightly so. The resort management needs to get real. I believe that the resort is under new management and from our perspective they have a first class resort but are starting to "penny pinch" in many areas that detracts from the overall enjoyment. For example the breakfast buffet police and the fact that in the apartment there was no paper kitchen roll or washing up liquid. Must do better IMHO.
The Algarve region of Portugal is a paradise for golfers and the Amendoeira Golf Resort is a prime example of what makes the area such a great destination. Attention to detail is the key to the success of this resort with golf courses by Nick Faldo, Christy O’Connor Jr. and the region’s only floodlit par-3 course.
Found just 15-minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Portugal with fabulous views to the magnificent Monchique Mountains, Amendoeira Golf Resort is home to luxurious 4-star apartments & villas and lends itself well to both a family trip and a group of friends getting some Portuguese heat in for their golfing holiday.
The Faldo course was awarded the Best Course in Portugal in 2016 by the World Golf Awards and consistently ranked as a top 100 course in Continental Europe. Only thirty minutes from Faro airport and just over two hours from Lisbon, this great golf resort is in a great spot to do some exploring of Portugal in general.
