Benamor Golf sits in the Barrocal hills, giving you mountain views that rank among the most spectacular along the Algarve and a welcome change of pace from the busier resort belt. The course opened in 2000 and is based on an original design by Sir Henry Cotton, a three-time Open Champion whose courses still appeal to golfers who like a traditional, honest test.
Out here, the scenery does plenty of the talking. The routing moves through genuine hill country, with elevated tees, long looks across the landscape and fairways that work with the natural contours rather than fighting them. It's the kind of place where you can concentrate on your game, then look up and remember you're on holiday.
As a round, Benamor suits mixed-ability groups nicely. Better players can enjoy plotting their way around, while higher handicappers will find a layout that feels relaxed and playable, especially compared with some of the tougher championship tracks on the coast. Expect approach shots that reward a good read of the slope and a few drives where position matters more than power.

Benamor is wrapped around the clubhouse, which itself is an amazing restoration of a traditional church building, and is a challenging par-71. At 6,019 yards, this is by no means the longest championship course that you can find in the Algarve, but the natural undulations make it tricky enough.
Set amidst the cork, fig and almond trees that are so typical of the local area, Benamor's two distinct nine hole loops each boast terrific holes, and ensure that your trip to this East Algarve delight will be truly memorable.

Thought the course a little untidy greens/fairways could have been doing with a trim. Well looked after and enjoyed our round

Nice club, nice course. Greens were OK. Course quite forgiving. Glad we played this course.

Played this course many times, always good to return , staff always great. Only issue this year was maintenance on fairways with most having been spiked other than that we all enjoyed Benamor

This course is quite short around 5000 metres the fairways and greens are perfect, but the bunkers are letting the whole experience down, they do not have any sand in them only stones and shale, I mention this to the professional who informed me they are talking about it as it spoils what is a very good course.
