Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club is one of the world's oldest golf clubs. Dating back to 1793, this classic Scottish links sits about 20 minutes north of Inverness on the Black Isle. You get big coastal views over the Moray Firth and on a clear day you can even see across to Cabot Highlands. Recognised as the 15th oldest golf club in the world, it's proper Highland links golf, the sort you come to Scotland for.
James Braid redesigned the course in 1932 and much of that classic Braid feel is still there today. From the championship tees it measures 6,085 yards, par 71, which sounds friendly on paper but rarely plays that way when the wind gets up. The course has hosted numerous Scottish amateur championships over the years, which tells you plenty about the test it provides. Expect firm, fast-running fairways, subtle breaks on the greens and wind that makes you think twice about clubbing.
It has picked up accolades too, including Scotland's Best Golfing Experience for value for money, Top 5 in GB & Ireland's Favourite Fun Golf Courses and a spot in the Top 50 Golf Courses in Scotland. If you're basing yourself in Inverness, it's an easy one to slot into a Highlands golf break.

The greens are not just fast but also deceptive, with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers throughout the course – the trademark of the all-time master of bunkering, James Braid. Whilst the course is playing to its full capacity, members, their guests and any golfers visiting our links can play from ANY of our Tees. The choice is your own so you can of course play from the Yellow, White or the Black tees which will add to the experience of playing on a true Scottish Links Golf Course. Ladies are advised to play from the RED tees. Visiting Golfers with a higher handicap are advised to play from the Yellow or White Tees.

With a strong wind, playing the par is difficult. Very beautiful, with views on the sea.
