- 1 Round at Knightsbrook
- 1 Round at Killeen Castle
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Tucked into the rolling countryside of County Meath, Knightsbrook Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort is a family-run retreat that ticks a lot of boxes for a Dublin-area golf break. You've got a championship parkland course on site, proper resort facilities for non-golfers and groups, and an easy run back to the city when you fancy a night out or want to add a links day to the itinerary.
Location-wise, it's handy for flying in and getting straight into holiday mode. Dublin Airport is roughly half an hour away in good traffic, and Dublin city is under an hour, so you can mix countryside calm with a few rounds in the capital. If you're building a multi-course itinerary, it also makes a sensible hub for exploring the golfing riches in and around Dublin, with courses like Portmarnock, The Island and County Louth (Baltray) all within reach for a day trip.
The vibe here is relaxed rather than formal. After your round you can head to the bar for a hearty feed, book in at the spa to loosen up, or simply park yourself on the terrace and watch the groups come in. That balance of serious golf and easy downtime is exactly what most weekend trips need, especially if you've got mixed handicaps or a couple of non-golfers in the party who want spa time or just a comfortable base while you're out playing.
Who is this for?
Golfers or groups seeking a high-quality parkland course paired with resort-style comfort, spa facilities and easy access to Dublin's links and parkland courses.
Who is it best for?
Mid-handicap golfers who want a well-maintained championship test, couples looking to combine golf with spa breaks and societies after a sociable base with strong dining and leisure options.

The Knightsbrook golf course was designed by ex Ryder Cup player Christy O’Connor Junior and is fast becoming one of the most popular layouts in and around Dublin. Measuring a little over 7,200 yards from the tips the course is certainly long enough to challenge the big hitters while a selection of tees make it more manageable for players with less experience. Built to USGA specifications, the course is in fantastic condition year round and golfer will no doubt enjoy the challenge provided by the undulating fairways, testing putting surfaces and a number of menacing water hazards dotted around the course.
In addition to the fantastic 18 hole golf course, Knightsbrook also boasts good practice facilities and a well stocked pro shop. Visitors can also sharpen up their skills before heading to the first tee by booking a lesson with the resident PGA teaching professional.
Knightsbrook has 131 bedrooms including 12 suites, and the rooms are set up with golfers in mind: plenty of space, a comfy bed and the kind of facilities that make a two or three-night break easy. Expect en suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and broadband internet connection, plus a clean, contemporary feel that still suits a family-run Irish hotel. Many rooms have private balconies overlooking either the golf course or the surrounding Meath countryside, which are ideal for a quiet post-round drink when the weather behaves.
If you want more room to spread out, the suites add extra living space and larger bathrooms, with Jacuzzi baths in select options. They're a good shout for couples doing golf and spa or anyone celebrating a milestone trip who wants a bit more comfort after a long day on the course.
Food-wise, you're well covered on site. Rococo Restaurant is the more refined option for a proper sit-down dinner, serving imaginative Irish and international dishes in a setting that suits a post-round celebration or a leisurely meal with the group. For something more relaxed, The Terrace Lounge offers lighter bites and views over the grounds, while Swifts Bar and Gulliver's Lounge give you the relaxed club-trip vibe: hearty plates, pints and a bit of craic after the scorecards are signed. The quality across all outlets is consistently high, with locally sourced ingredients and a genuine pride in what's being served.
The River Spa is a real highlight of the resort, especially if you're squeezing in 36 holes or just want to switch off for an afternoon. The Asian Muscle Melting Back Therapy is the headline treatment and it's aimed right where golfers feel it most: back, shoulders and neck. It's become something of a favourite among returning guests, and for good reason. Beyond the treatment rooms, the spa includes a leisure club with a swimming pool and gym, perfect for loosening up before or after your round. Whether you're looking to recover from a tough day on the course, indulge in some pre-golf pampering or simply escape for a few hours, the facilities here are among the best you'll find at any Irish golf resort.
For golfers, the practical details matter. The resort is well set up for groups and societies, with flexible dining options, private function spaces and staff who understand the rhythm of a golf trip. I'm a sucker for a resort where you can finish 18 and be eating within 10 minutes, and Knightsbrook delivers on that front. The location also makes it easy to add rounds at nearby courses or venture into Dublin for links golf, all within comfortable driving distance depending on traffic and tee times.

We have stayed here previously 3 times, on every previous occasion it has been better. The hotel seems to have a lot of foriegn workers, who struggled in communication. The breakfast and evening meals were not to a very good standard. One of our party even took the liberty of sending his evening meal back, refusing to pay or take anything in substitution. We like Knightsbrook, but the hotel side of thing has dropped its rating greatly on our scales.

Hotel has everything you could wish for, from good facilities to bars and terrace areas. Food on both Friday and Saturday nights was very slow in arriving. Over 2 hours to be fed from start to finish. Only negative of a great resort.

This golf course is of the highest rating, all the facilities are top notch, one small complaint is that the buggy hire is getting out of order, 50 euros for a buggy for visitors, yet members were being charged 25 euros for the same facility. Surely 30euros is enough to charge for these for 18 holes.

Course is great greens tricky but fair bit long for our standard of golf but we all enjoyed the challenge 👍

The course at Knightsbrook was in great order, the weather was a bit crazy for late June, but nothing can stop mother nature. Would recommend this golf course very highly.

Really nice course. Very well manicured through tee boxes, fairways and greens. Ideal test for beginners through to the most experienced of players. Par 3s were very quirky and lots of fun to play. Really good course!
