If Le Golf National is the main event, Novotel Saint Quentin en Yvelines puts you exactly where you want to be, just minutes from the Albatros Course, host of The Ryder Cup in 2018. It's a genuinely handy base for early tee times and stress-free returns after a long day on a championship test, with the Paris region's other quality courses also within easy reach.
The hotel is a modern, recently refurbished, 4-star option that's been refreshed in recent years, so it feels up to date without pretending to be a five-star resort. You're also only a short hop from Versailles and around 30 minutes from central Paris, which is ideal if your group wants to mix serious golf with a bit of sightseeing, dinners out or a day in the city.
For anyone building a golf holiday in France around Le Golf National, this is the sort of place that makes the whole trip easier: simple logistics, reliable standards and the right location for getting the golf done first, then enjoying everything else the area has to offer. The Albatros Course remains one of the toughest and most rewarding tests in France, and being this close means you can focus on your game rather than worrying about transfers or traffic.

The Novotel has 131 rooms designed for comfort and practicality rather than flash. Think good beds, modern amenities and a clean, contemporary feel, the sort of setup that works well when your priority is getting a proper night's sleep before another round. Rooms have been updated as part of the recent refurbishment, so everything feels fresh and functional without being overstated. Service is efficient and geared towards groups, so the basics tend to run smoothly: check-in, getting organised and heading out on time.
The staff understand how golfers operate, which shows in the small details. There's space to store clubs securely, breakfast timings are flexible enough to suit early tee times and the whole operation feels like it's been set up by people who've hosted plenty of golf groups before. If you're travelling as a society or with a larger party, the hotel handles the logistics without fuss, leaving you free to concentrate on the golf.
Off the course, you've got enough on site to keep everyone happy. There's a swimming pool and fitness centre for a recovery session after 18 holes, plus two tennis courts if anyone fancies a change of pace. For a more relaxed evening, there's also boules, pétanque and snooker, handy for groups staying a few nights who want something to do without trekking into the city.
Food and drink is straightforward and golfer-friendly. The hotel runs two bars and three restaurants, including a late-opening option that suits those finishing evening rounds or travelling back from the course. The overall vibe is relaxed rather than formal, making it a good fit for societies and groups who want an easy meal and a drink without overthinking it. The dining is reliable, the atmosphere is sociable and the late service means you're not rushing back to beat the kitchen closing.
Ultimately, the biggest luxury here is the location. Being close to Le Golf National means less time in the car and more time doing what you came for: playing one of the standout tests in France. The hotel sits in a good position for exploring the other courses around Saint Quentin en Yvelines too, so if you're planning a multi-course trip, this works as a sensible central base. If you're after a dependable hotel that keeps the trip simple and puts you in the right place, this does the job.

Hotel is pretty basic, and the food is awful and expensive. I'd recommend going off site to eat.

The hotel, bar and restaurant are devoid of any charm or character and could easily be an airport hotel on a budget holiday. The food is over priced and average and the staff don’t have a welcoming disposition. I think the whole experience is described as basic

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and generally the hotel offers the standard you would expect. We had dinner there once - it was very disappointing. Breakfast buffet was ok, but nothing special. The bar area was also ok but with contemporary furniture designed for its looks rather than comfort, particularly for large groups which presumably frequent golf and conference based hotels.

The hotel was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly. The breakfasts were very good with a wide variety to suit all our requirements. The only thing that we could complain about was the evening meal on the first evening where most of the group went for a steak and the meat was tough and gristly.

The hotel bar staff and lunch staff were poor. Service / hospitality is poor. It’s a real shame as the course was amazing and everybody linked to the course were amazing. The hotel is on site which is perfect but it’s killing the experience. Don’t staff at the Novotel. Reluctance to serve food for us on arrival 8.30pm. When finished our round at 3pm we were told they were closing the restaurant and that we could only have two items on the menu. A complaint was made with the manager due to over charging of the bill. The manager was very good reporting our concerns. The Albatross is amazing just don’t stay at the hotel. The rooms were very small and very hot

Right on the course - but a novotel which means very small basic rooms, if sharing I would consider single occupancy! Staff friendly & helpful, breakfast, consistent with novotel standards, (basic but ok). Bar shut at 11pm (good in reflection) & restaurant somewhat limited (tapas offering) - we booked locally & enjoyed 3 great meals.
