- 1 Night Bed and Breakfast at Pegwell Bay Hotel
- 1 Round at Canterbury Golf Club
- 1 Round at North Foreland
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Perched on the Kent cliff tops with sweeping views across the English Channel, Pegwell Bay Hotel makes an excellent base for golfers tackling the county's coastal courses. The location puts you within easy reach of Royal St George's at Sandwich, Prince's nearby and Royal Cinque Ports over in Deal, all while you're looking out over one of the most dramatic stretches of the south-east coastline.
The hotel sits close to Ramsgate railway station and the ferry terminal, so whether you're driving down from London or hopping across from the continent, logistics are straightforward. That matters when you're trying to squeeze 3 or 4 rounds into a short break and don't want to waste half a day navigating country lanes.
The clifftop setting gives the place a proper seaside feel without the bucket-and-spade crowds. You're high enough to catch the breeze and the view, but close enough to Ramsgate's harbour and town centre to find a decent pint and a bite after your round. It's the sort of spot that works equally well for a couple chasing links golf in Kent or a four-ball planning a golf tour of Kent that mixes famous names with hidden gems.
Who is this for?
Golfers looking for comfortable, well-located accommodation on the Kent coast, with easy access to championship links of Royal St George's, Royal Cinque Ports & Prince's Golf Club, a trio that are almost impossible to beat.
Who is it best for?
Groups and couples who want a straightforward base for a Kent golf tour, with clifftop views, modern rooms and proximity to transport links, rather than a full resort experience.

The hotel offers 42 en-suite bedrooms, all recently refurbished to a high standard. Each room comes with a flat-screen television, Freeview, direct-dial telephone and complimentary internet connection, so you've got everything you need after a long day walking 36 holes in a proper sea breeze. The rooms are clean, modern and functional, designed more for comfort and convenience than country-house luxury, which suits most golfers perfectly well.
I'll be honest, if your priority is golf first and faff second, this is exactly the kind of base that works. You're not paying for spa treatments or elaborate leisure facilities you won't use. Instead, you're getting a well-kept room with a good shower, reliable wi-fi for sorting tee times and a comfortable bed after you've walked Royal St George's or tackled the back nine at North Foreland. The setup is simple, sensible and focused on what golfers actually care about when they're planning a multi-course itinerary.
Adjacent to the main hotel building you'll find the Sir Stanley Gray bar and restaurant, a relaxed spot for evening meals with a menu that covers the usual crowd-pleasers done properly. The dining space is cosy and comfortable, the sort of place where you can settle in with your group, compare scorecards over a pint and plan the next day's tee times without feeling rushed. It's not fine dining, but it's solid, satisfying food in a welcoming environment, which is exactly what you want when you've just walked 18 in a stiff coastal wind.
The hotel's position on the clifftop means you're never far from fresh air and a decent view, whether you're having breakfast before an early start at Sandwich or winding down in the bar after a long round. The combination of modern rooms, convenient location and easy access to some of England's finest links golf makes Pegwell Bay a sensible, no-fuss choice for golfers who'd rather spend their time on the course than worrying about where they're staying.

Friendly staff, very dated decor, hot stuffy bedroom, uncomfortable small beds, issues with towel changing and housekeeping in general ( only one hand towel between two people!) On the plus side food and bar were good.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy, the hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and both the restaurant and pub were emasculate with great views and more importantly a wide selection of beers, ale and ciders.

Great cliff-top position overlooking the sea and Sandwich Bay. Everything working and clean, organised for our stay on arrival. Room rate fine and reflected the lack of sea view. Special mention for the staff in the restaurant opposite where we ate on two consecutive nights. Really friendly service - caught some lovely weather so ate on the deck next to the sea. Only issue was the first breakfast - we arrived an hour before the deadline but certain things had already run out from the menu. Overall would recommend.
