Pestana Alvor Beach Villas

8.0
Very Good See all 8 reviews

Perched above Alvor's sandy beach and those calm, clear Algarve waters, Pestana Alvor Beach Villas sits around a ten-minute walk from the town centre and the Alvor River. It's a handy spot if your group wants the best of both worlds: a beachy base for down time, plus straightforward access to some of the region's most played courses.

Golf-wise, you're well placed for Alto, Gramacho, Pinta and Silves, all within an easy drive along the coast. The location works particularly well if you're mixing rounds around Alvor, Portimão and Carvoeiro, then heading back for a swim and something casual to eat. The walk into Alvor town is flat and straightforward, so you've got bars, restaurants and the river within easy reach most evenings.

If your ideal trip is morning tee times, a lazy afternoon by the pool and a relaxed night out in Alvor, this one fits the brief without feeling too formal. The villas themselves offer a self-catering setup with proper outdoor space, which suits groups who want flexibility and a bit of independence between rounds. During summer, the resort comes alive with live music and entertainment on the outdoor stage, adding a sociable buzz without overdoing it.

Golfers who want a self-catering villa base by the beach in Alvor, with easy access to the western Algarve's headline courses.

Who is it best for?

Accommodation at Pestana Alvor Beach Villas

The villas sleep up to four and come with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV and fully equipped kitchens, handy if you want breakfast in before an early tee time or prefer to sort your own meals around the day's golf. Each villa opens onto generous outdoor living areas with gardens, so there's proper room to spread out, store clubs and switch off between rounds. The layout works well for couples sharing or small families who want a bit more space than a standard hotel room.

On site, you've got several bars dotted across the property, plus the pool bar that keeps drinks and ice creams within reach of the sun loungers. Food is casual and convenient, with the restaurant serving salads, soups, pizzas and sandwiches, alongside grilled meat or fish at lunch. It's the sort of setup where you can grab something quick poolside or head into Alvor for a proper sit-down meal, depending on how the day's played out.

In summer, the outdoor stage hosts live music and entertainment most evenings, which adds to the atmosphere without feeling forced. If you're the sort of group that likes a post-round drink with a bit of background buzz, it's a nice touch. Outside peak season, things are quieter, but the beach, the town and the golf are still right there.

The combination of villa flexibility, beachside location and straightforward access to courses like Gramacho or Silves makes Pestana Alvor Beach Villas a practical choice for groups who want a relaxed, independent base without sacrificing convenience. If you're building an Algarve golf week around Alvor and Portimão, this is an easy villa base to plug into a tee time line-up, then head back for a swim and something casual to eat.

Excellent facilities and close to Alvor town.

Poor

We were supposed to have a V1 Superior beach villa and ended up in what I can only describe as a poor apartment, our outside area was basically in the middle of the car park with zero privacy. After complaining there were clearly other “villas” which looked superior but I was advised I’d have to pay more. Amenities were poor for the people in the “villas” and staff were unhelpful.

Superb apartment at the Alvor Beach villas. Stayed for 5 nights. Spotlessly clean, lovely crisp white bed linen and plenty of towels. Nice bright kitchen diner and sunny balcony for our breakfast overlooking the pretty grounds and sea. We had the 2 bed apartment which had the bonus of a dishwasher. Cannot comment on the hotel restaurant or facilities as we didn’t use them as we were golfing. Could not fault anything and would defo stay again.

the staff were great and very friendly however the villas look old damaged and dirty outside, and that leaves a very bad impression specially on arrival just wondering what kind of things we booked.... therefore the 3 stars only, also the wellness that we should have had was closed and in renovation, we were not allowed to go to the one of the hotel ( not very nice) but we could go to another wellness close by , we did not... was annoying too
