The winding fairways and elevated greens are typical of Cotton's architectural philosophy, and ensure that there is a stern challenge for the low handicap players, whilst remaining fair for the average golfer. Set across two rolling hills, visitors will enjoy beautiful views of the Lagos Bay.
The course is just shy of 7,000 yards, but that is mostly thanks to the monstrous 16th, which measures 661 yards and has appropriately been dubbed, ‘Gigante'.
Set amongst the pine, fig, almond and carob trees, and flanked by beautiful villas, Alto is a delightful place for a round of golf during your golf holiday in the Western Algarve.

The course is lovely. Very interesting. Greens are great, fast and true. No buggy bar, but clubhouse can be nipped in to on the 9th no problem. Good sandwiches and cans of most drinks (beer, G&T, etc. there)Complementary fruit and water.

Baking hot day, lovely course. Some greens were ridiculously fast and sloped, but a good challenge for a high handicapper.

a very good hotel course, not in the La Reserva / Finca Cortisen league but a good first or last day course if staying at So Hotel Sotogrande.

Nice course it presents a fair challenge, greens fast and difficult to read, downhill putts very tricky. Holes interesting and a lot of elevational change. Caddy Master Team not up to premium standard, they didn’t put bags on buggies, clean clubs, cold towel after round etc as a result they are probably missing out on a significant amount of tips for a bit extra work
