Trump International Golf Links

The central focus of this world class development is the championship golf course which has been designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree. Hawtree has previously completed work on links gems including the likes of Royal Birkdale, Lahinch and Portmarnock, which is enough to suggest that the Trump International Links will become an instant classic.

The championship course is very much in the shape of traditional Scottish links and the par 72 that measures a little over 7,400 yards is surely destined to host major tournaments in the not too distant future.

All 18 holes wind their way intriguingly through the imposing dunes and golfers will be treated to breathtaking views from various vantage points around the course. Each hole will have 5 separate tees thus catering for all classes of golfer. Like any Hawtree course The Trump International links will be an enthralling golfing experience thanks to strategically placed bunkers undulating fairways and a stunning variety of holes that will no doubt keep the golfer on their toes from start to finish.

To ensure best practice and the protection of native species the environmental group MEMAG has been established.

Tips for visiting Trump International Golf Links

This course is a monster from the back tees, I suggest you approach it as humble as you can, select the right tees for your ability and enjoy a great game of golf taking in those breathtaking views! Using a range finder really helped my game as the course is filled with imposing dunes & hazards to avoid, knowing the distance between you and any potential danger means you can easily forget about certain hazards on the course to make your round less daunting.

After 18 holes on the links I would recommend heading to the Dunes Restaurant (19th hole) where the ‘Birdie Bites’ go great with a Tom Morris Lager on the side. A great combo!

Very grand looking house but a little disappointing in side no grand reception just a hall way? Room was a big statement with Trump pillow etc. But behind the grand image we had curtains that did not draw missing blinds and we where in a ground floor room next to the parking not so fantastic really considering the over Trumpped brand. Full Breakfast was very good for me but my wife’s omelette was poor and service was very slow. Dinner in the golf club is a bit of a let down

Very Good

First time at the venue and would like to play again as the layout is tough. Everything in very good condition. Back nine definitely hits the spot with some truly wonderful holes and intelligent design. Front nine not so engaging, especially the front four holes - it does get better. Make sure you climb to the top of the 18th tee box (pro tees) for stunning views. And yet....there is just something missing. Its a bit corporate on the welcome front and feels soul less. Good course, but not magical. Play it and make your own mind up. Glad we went, I definitely recommend playing it once, but now its been ticked off there are other places Id return to

Lots of people have rated this course as 5 and many at 1? We all have seen the stories about locals and distorting the nature but I have to say it is some course not for the faint hearted you need a good game and a long straight drive to enjoy this place. It is far too hard for the occasional golfer it’s a brutal test and for that I admire it! Greens are very tricky and long approaches to the wrong sector and it’s 3 putts all day. They are true and great surfaces a good short putt would drop. So I get the marmite approach to rating respect it and if your not good off the tee take a dozen balls or stay away 👍
