Damme Golf & Country Club

9.2
Excellent See all 16 reviews

Damme Golf & Country Club sits in the countryside between Bruges and the historic town of Damme, where the course has been shaped to follow the natural contours of the land rather than imposed upon it. Streams wind through the layout, mature poplars frame the fairways, and the open grassland gives the place a quiet, rural feel without being overly manicured.

What it's like to play
The routing makes good use of the water that runs through the property. Several holes ask you to carry or skirt the streams, and the poplars come into play more often than you might expect, particularly when the wind picks up across the flat terrain. It's not a long course by modern standards, but accuracy matters here. The fairways are generous enough to reward a well-struck tee shot, but anything that leaks into the trees can leave you blocked out or scrambling for angles into the green.

Facilities and vibe
The clubhouse and setup feel more like a members' club than a resort course, which suits golfers looking for a relaxed day out rather than a high-pressure championship test. Damme works well as part of a Bruges-based golf break, close enough to the city for an easy morning round before heading back for an afternoon exploring the canals and sampling a decent Belgian beer.

Who is this for?
Golfers staying in or around Bruges who want a convenient, scenic round without travelling far, and groups or couples looking to combine quality golf with easy access to one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities.

Who is it best for?
Mid to high handicappers who appreciate a well-maintained parkland layout with natural character, and anyone planning a short break in Flanders who wants to tick off a round in a peaceful, traditional setting.

Damme Golf & Country Club

The championship course was opened in 1987, having been designed by Dudok Van Keel, and measures 6,592 yards at its full length. The parkland layout is wrapped around a fantastic network of lakes, which represent the predominant hazards as you negotiate the par-72 test.

This woodland gem is the closest course to Bruges itself, and should certainly be involved in a golf break to the charming medieval town.

If you're still mastering golf's subtler techniques, Damme has a nine-hole academy course, which is the perfect place to hone your skills.

Challenging championship course with plenty of water hazards though they seldom come into play. Greens were excellent - fast and true. Top quality facilities including a decent range with complimentary balls and a great bar and restaurant

great course. were held up by a two ball, we played in a 5 ball and still waited. weather was crap but to be expected this time of year, win some lose some.

A beautiful parkland course with some water and no two holes the same. Staff in the bar/restaurant were very helpful, practice facilities good. The only minor issue was that the greens were a bit slow (certainly much slower than the practice putting green). Overall would certainly recommend the course and the club.
