Reasons to Visit Hillside Golf Club

  • Host of The British Masters & Amateur Championship

  • Originally opened in 1911 with further additions to the design and course we see today by famed architect Fred Hawtree

  • Ranked 23rd in England and 52nd in UK & Ireland by Top 100 Golf Courses

Hillside Golf Club is considered by many visitors to be as good as Southport's neighbouring Open Championship hosts, such is the quality of the golf course.

Squeezed in between Royal Birkdale Golf Course and Southport and Ainsdale Golf Course, Hillside is cut through the awesome sand dunes that typify the coastal region around Southport, the home of "England's Golf Coast".

The highlight of Hillside Golf Club's history is certainly seen in it hosting The 2019 Betfred British Masters, hosted by Tommy Fleetwood who hails from the local area and played his amateur golf at nearby Formby Hall Golf Club. The title was claimed by Sweden's Marcus Kinhult who navigated the championship links in 272 (-16), fending off the chasing trio of Robert Macintyre, Eddie Pepperell and Matt Wallace by 1 shot.

As a must-play golf course in Southport, taking on this fantastic layout and the neighbouring links courses should be very high on the list for anyone considering a golf break in Lancashire.
