Set on the idyllic Côte Picardie, Belle Dune is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and considered by many to be one of France's top courses. The course was conceived by Italian Jean-Manuel Rossi in 1992 and the layout is good enough to draw comparisons with the finest links courses of the UK and Ireland.
Located on the pristine west coast of France, Golf de Belle Dune sits just 30 minutes south of Le Touquet, so it's an easy add-on round for a northern France golf break, particularly if you're travelling over from the UK.
What sets Belle Dune apart from many French courses is its authenticity. It feels closer to a true links than many 'links-style' courses in France, with sandy soil underfoot and plenty of run on the fairways. The back nine, in particular, plays out along the dunes with views across the bay, and when the wind gets up it's a proper test of links golf.
Ranked as a top course in Northern France and inside the top 80 courses in Europe, Belle Dune is not one to miss if you like golf that asks a few questions.

Carved through the towering dunes that pepper the lovely coastline, Belle Dune is an awe-inspiring landscape, with superb holes flanked by gorse and whins. The 6,434 yard course is not long by modern standards, but with the coastal winds whipping up and down the coast, Belle Dune is a formidable test. This is a home away from home for avid British links players, and is a pure golf course of the highest standard.
The opening holes weave through mature woodland before the routing breaks out into exposed dune land. When the wind gets up it becomes a genuine factor, both in club selection and in how brave you want to be from the tee. Rossi makes smart use of the natural contours, with fairways that rise and fall through the sandy terrain, plus deep bunkering and swales that put a premium on placement over power.
Accompanying the beautiful golf course is a well stocked Pro Shop, bar and restaurant. Belle Dune is easily accessed from Fort Mahon and the popular resort of Le Touquet, and comes highly recommended by regular golfing visitors to the coastline South of Calais.
“This has to be one of the best golf courses I have ever played. It features amazing contrasts between parkland and links style golf; one minute you’re playing through gorgeous French woodland, the next you’re on traditional Scottish links, before returning back to France for the finish. The Par 5 17th has to be one of the most dramatic holes I’ve played in France. Belle Dune is a beautiful place. If you are coming to this area, it is an absolute must-play.” - Mark Crossfield, PGA Professional

Great course, mixed surroundings from tree-lined fairways to dunes and back to trees again. Very windy out on the dunes and a couple of 5 minute treks between green and the next tee that take one star off for us.

Breathtaking course if you like pine lined parkland course that has dunes surrounding it. Sandy base means almost always ready to play rain or shine. Only issue is sometimes distance between holes is greater than the holes themselves. Perhaps yourgolftravel can label courses that suggest there's a lot of walking involved
