Los Lagos Course

Inaugurated in 1976, Los Lagos is a quality resort course that allowed Mijas to steadily build its reputation after opening, and ultimately to expand with a second layout. As its name suggest, Los Lagos is endowed with a great deal of water - there are in fact nine lakes interspersed throughout, which present golfers with a continuous threat. Designer Robert Trent Jones Senior has created a course that is manageable for the average golfer, with relatively forgiving fairways, but one that will still challenge even the most skillful of players.

Los Olivos Course

The Los Olivos course was added to Mijas' resort in 1983, and has helped it grow into a fantastic all-encompassing golf destination. Although it was also the work of the esteemed Trent Jones Senior, it differs greatly in style to Los Lagos. There is less of a premium placed upon power - Los Olivos measures 6,384 yards - but it is crucial to be accurate to find the tree-lined fairways and the small, undulating putting surfaces.

The great contrast between the two courses makes Mijas all the more charming, and helps to explain why it is among the elite golf resorts on the Costa del Sol.

Golfer reviews

Our Golf Break to Fuengirola went well, The accommodation at the PYR Fuengirola provided a good base for our golf break, the rooms were of reasonable size and provided comfortable accommodation for three guys with the use of the pull out sofa bed, we were hardly ever in the room, so we felt this was decent value for money accommodation.

Our first round was at the Mijas golf club (Los Olivios). Teeing it up at 1400 hours the golf course was empty, with the sun shining it was the perfect start to our break, good range / practice facilities allowed us the opportunity to loosen up after our flight. Our party consisted of 4,9 and a 12 handicapper, who all enjoyed the Mijas club nothing to demanding, mainly flat with some nice backdrops and "Fun" par 3s, not too many places to loose your ball so about right for some social holiday golf. The course was in good condition and well worth another visit.

We had two rounds at the Alhaurin club, the staff at the club were fantastic holding on to our suitcases in the pro shop providing us with carrier bags of ice to keep our drinks cold, they could not have made us more welcome. The course itself was brutal on the first visit, trying to work your ball round the mountains without knowing where the 50 foot drops where off the side of the fairway. Its fair to say that after two rounds we actually came to love the course, there are some memorable elevated tee shots to be hit on the front nine, which I think we would all like another go at. Regards,
