Golf del Sur makes the most of Tenerife's volcanic terrain, with the Atlantic Ocean rolling out beyond the fairways. This championship layout sits just minutes from Tenerife South Airport, so it's a cracking option if you fancy getting a round in soon after landing.
The course is a full 18 holes made up of two distinct nine-hole loops, the Links and the North. Both are generous from the tee in places, so you can let the driver go, but you'll still need to plot your way in, especially when the breeze gets up. And it often does, given the exposed coastal setting.
What really sets it apart is the contrast between black volcanic rock, bright greens and those sea views. It's characterful without being gimmicky, and it suits mixed-ability groups because there's room to play, but enough strategy to keep better players interested.
The volcanic landscape gives you visual intimidation in places, particularly where darker ground frames the fairways, but it doesn't overwhelm playability. If you're anything like me, you'll enjoy the temptation to take a brave line over the darker volcanic ground when the wind's helping. Wind is always part of the equation here, so expect it to influence club selection, particularly on the more open stretches. Bring a few extra balls if you're the type to take on tight lines for a better angle in.
Golf del Sur is often listed among the Canary Islands' standout courses and regularly appears in Spain-wide top-course round-ups. The layout gives you proper holiday golf, a bit of strategic bite and the sort of views that make you forgive the odd dropped shot.
Who is this for?
Golfers seeking a reliable, year-round course in Tenerife that combines accessibility with genuine strategic interest, plus anyone wanting a quick post-flight round or a warm-weather break without sacrificing course quality.
Who is it best for?
Mid to low handicappers who like a bit of seaside wind, plus societies after a playable, well-presented track that won't turn into a lost-ball marathon.

The North Course, facing the mountains, you will be able to contemplate views of the Teide and an impressive ravine protected by nature while you play hole 3 and 4, your accuracy will help you to overcome the difficulty of these holes.
The Links course offers spectacular views to the ocean specially from the 5th tee located at the top of the mountain.
The amazing setting for Golf del Sur makes it a sure favourite with Tenerife's golfing visitors, and comes highly recommended for your next trip to the island.

Very disappointed with this course, I expressed my concern last year after playing here that there was a lot of maintenance going on which we were not aware of. This year we expected the maintenance but not the poor state of the course, there was 3 temporary greens one of which you could not even call a green, it was more like a farmers field! There was also some temporary tee boxes, overall the course should be closed if it is not ready to be played properly. Will not be going back there until all work is finished.

Before leaving we were told that there was only 17 holes open so that was not a good start but after arriving that wasn't the only problem. When we checked in were then told to start on the 10th and with doing this the GPS on phones and carts would not pick up the signals and all the way round the buggies would cut out saying you have entered a work zone and wouldn't move. I could go on about other problems with course but needless to say we would not play this course again

Nice course but inconsistent greens. Club house quite basic and staff functional rather than friendly.

Exceptionally slow. The 7th was under construction and had to skip. The rest of the course was a building site in places. They’d oversold with multiple buggy’s and fourballs on course. We waited on every tee from the 2nd onwards. At the 18th, there were 5 buggies waiting to play, so we walked in. It was a 5 hour 20 minute round without playing 2 holes

Lots of work going on around the course slightly detracted the experience, once the work is completed this will be a fantastic challenge. Although most of the course was in great condition and still very challenging.

Sadly there was a lot of work being done on the course and the satellite system on the buggies was dire . We walked more than rode with the buggies constantly locked for no reason. A very frustrating round. The staff were very welcoming .
